Summary: I think jewels book is very creative. she is a GREAT writer.
Review: I think jewel is a fabulous writer. I don't know of anyone who can say she isn't good. when I hear her sing or speak she gives me goose bumps. she is my idol.when I first heard one of her poems I was amazed. I have definatly fallen in love with her talent.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: It was hopeful, yet immature and simple in its approach.
Review: Jewels book resembles her first album (Pieces of You) greatly. The poems are simple and enjoyable, but unfortunatly not to be read in large quantities. The majority of the poems are thoughts, and observations, leaving very little for the reader to do. The more metaphorical poems seem riduculous (i.e. "traffic" of his love). Again, it is enjoyable if you liked her first album(Pieces of You). If you prefered her second one (spirit) which is far more mature, try something else.

Summary: surprising
Review: I received this as a Christmas present, being both a Jewel (music) fan and a poetry lover. I expected trite little verses about love- I should have known better. Jewel's lyrics are often strong enough to stand as poetry; here, though some fall flat, she paints some stark and vivid pictures of various scenes of life. These poems will not wow anyone with their complexity or insight, but they are surprisingly well-crafted observations, lyrical enough to stand on their own even without the star power draw.

Summary: I would not call this poetry.
Review: Jewel may be a talented song writer and she may have a lot of interesting things to say, but I would not call it poetry. I think a more acurate title would be: The Journal of Jewel Kilcher, or Thoughts of Jewel Kilcher. If you want real poetry read some poetry by people who have really perfected their craft, like Walt Whitman, or Emily Dickinson.

Summary: A great refelection of thought!
Review: This book of surprisingly personal poetry made me think about a lot of things in life. I beleive that books that make you think are great. This is a book full of things that are in a way very philisopical. I higly reccomend this book for the person who ponders life and all the convuluted things it holds.

Summary: Jewel's Rollin' In The Dough
Review: I had a stopover in a airport, and I had some time so I went to the bookstore-Lo and Behold their was Jewel's book in front of me, and so I started to read it. I couldn't believe the audacity this woman has to publish a book of such gibberish!! I was laughing so hard I started to cry! P.S.- Since Jewel's roolin' in the 4 she better get her decaying teeth fixed, the refuges in Albania have better dental hygeine.

Summary: WARNING: For the True Jewel fan ONLY!!
Review: While most of Jewel's song might be entertaining and enlightening, her book of poems is neither. Most of the poems are of little interest except those interested in knowing something about Jewel and her life, as most of her "poems" are autobiographical. Most of her poems do not really qualify as poems, even in free verse. If one takes her poems and would put them into paragraph form, one would be changed to decide if it was originally a poem or journal writing. Although it is easy to be critical of someone else's poetry, Jewel's poetry, as others have said, is an honest effort. Perhaps it is just the way that Jewel writes which makes many people dislike her poems, but for those truly interested in knowing a little bit of how she was raised or her thoughts on different topics, it is a book well worth reading, mind you, not buying. Unless of course, you are like me and doing a research paper on Jewel and her poetry.

Summary: Very Honest
Review: After reading many critics on this book, I had lost all hope and believed it was no good. However, I decided to see for myself because one cannot trust other people's opinions too much on matters such as poetry. This book is not filled with pretty words and rhyming verses that some people think poetry should be (in some cases). It is the work of fair hands and an honest heart. The true simplicity of meaningful words and experiences captured in those pages are artistic and beautiful to read. The poems were written with a passion towards life, strife and curious observations. One may not necessarily need to relate to them to realise the message Jewel is trying to get across. Critics compare this book with other genious poets and say that it is either too simple or that she only writes about her breasts. I find that very unfair because they should take to mind that it is written in today's age and that every one has their own way of expressing themselves. Jewel is a great writer and should be considered by all ages.

Summary: Mawkish
Review: Someone once wrote about another writer, that they "write with all the subtlety of a traffic report." I can't think of a better book to which that sentiment applies than Jewel's.

Summary: This book is incredible.
Review: I do not, yet own this book. However, I have read many of the poems that are a part of this glorious book. One of these, which I can not recall the name of, helped me get through a really difficult time. I am simply amazed at Jewels work. She has definitely been a major inspiration in my music and life in general. I love this book!! I would recommend it to everyone.
