Rating: Summary: I am surprised by you all! Review: I did not enjoy this book at all, and I agree that it probably would have not been published if it didnt have fame connected with golden twine. But for those who defend her, that's great, just don't demean others at the same time! The "intellectualy arrogant" was my favorite. What the hell? Either you're arrogant or you're not, don't be redundant. And you who are attacking others, saying that you are on a quest for a more peaceful world? Can we say hypocrisy?
Rating: Summary: A unique look at the way Jewel thinks of life &things Review: Jewel explores the fire of first love, and the fading of passion, the giving of trust and the loss of trust. In her poems she creates images of places exotic and mundane, and speaks of loneliness and friendship. I loved the way that she made me feel: pain, sorrow, and joy all at the same time.It is a good book for teens and adults. the poems range from short to long.
Rating: Summary: This got published, huh? Review: I am sure somewhere out there there are poets praying, hoping, yearning to be published. Poets that have worked on their craft for years. I would suggest they get a record deal first, and then they will probabaly see ther name in print.
Rating: Summary: I think Jewel is a very talented poet and deserves more!! Review: Jewel is a very talented poet and singer. Although she has been recoconized in the music and writing buisness, I still believe she deserves more. She has changed alot of peoples lives (including my own ) and helped them to get through alot. I think some people are to soon to write her off as just another pop singer in the music buisness. She is so much more than that. She is a poet, a singer, and a guitar player. People need to stop and reconize her for who she is and not critisize her for her hard work.
Rating: Summary: This was a very wonderful look into the spirit of Jewel. Review: I highly recommend reading this book because Jewel has opened herself to let everyone in. She takes a wonderful in-depth view that is honest about her life experiences and feelings. Jewel is talented and I hope that readers can see this talent she possesses.
Rating: Summary: I love Jewel's work, I wish i could meet her, best ever Review: I read Shakespeare and Poe, but neither of them move me or touch me like Jewel does. her poems, her songs, just her voice itself, makes my soul lift to the sky. She is a master of word and language, and I wish i could meet her just to shake her hand and let her know how much her writing and songs move me. Without Jewel, I would always be depressed. Jewel lifts me up with her writing and songs, lifts me up out of that to where I am happy. The mere sound of her voice makes my heart flutter. She is the most beautiful person I have ever seen, and her works have more meaning to me than anyone I've ever met. It's hard to say your in love with someone you've never met, but I can say I am in love with jewel, for her work touches me more than anything I've ever read, with exception to the Bible.
Rating: Summary: My Favoite Book...... Review: This book by Jewel is the best book of poetry ever written. I love poetry, and I certainly admire Jewel and her inspirations to write. Although a lot of the poems in this book did not rhyme, her literary technique of free verse made you think more about the poem and really get into it and see what message Jewel is trying to send. I write poetry in my free time, and it doesn't even compare. I didn't buy this book because I'm a fan of Jewel, because if that was the story, i may not have puchased it. Yes, i like her music, but i'm not a huge fan. i don't own either of her CDs, but i enjoy her talents and music. I admire her because she has came a very long way since she was in Homer, Alaska. I wish these things let you put higher than 5 stars, cuz i'd give this book a 10! I highly recommend it to other readers....it's well worth the time reading it and figuring out her poetry :)
Rating: Summary: It was great! Review: Jewel is a wonderful poet as well as singer, this book was really good!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Lovely Review: my favorite poem was "New Moon"
Rating: Summary: This book got published only because she is a rock star. Review: There are some strikingly frank and honest moments in this book, especially when she relates her more troubling personal experiences, but apart from an occasional flash of inspiration, this book is so completely rife with hackneyed metaphor and trite, cliched and plainly overdone language. After reading Heather McHugh, a true artist with the fine manipulation of the english language, this book is flat. If Jewell wasn't already a musical success, promising at least some cross-over commercial success for this book, it never would have gotten published. Fortunately, I bought this book off the bargain rack.
