Summary: Pretty Cool
Review: A good compilation of spells. I like the tables in the front of this (the first) book. I understand this is not meant to be a rule book, but some help on where to find rules on chronomancers would be nice, since there are a fair number of spells for them in here. Recommend getting 1st and 4th books before obtaining rest so that you get the tables and index.

Summary: I found this book a descrace to the TSR's colection
Review: All this book does is tell the same spells over agian that are in the Players Handbook like Ivisibility or wish of Polymorph other so please don't waste your time with this book

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: This is the basic building block of all magic users in AD&D
Review: An encyclopedia of magical knowledge is at your fingertips when you open this glorious book of EVERY SINGLE SPELL. TSR scrounged spells from tome of magic, player's handbook, complete wizard handbook etc. If you ever want to be a master in the fine art of magic, all you'll ever need is in here. By the way since I started using this I have yet to lose.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: The cream of the crop.
Review: Anyone who thinks that this book is redundant, or just repeats spells, is insane. Thousands of spells were collected from every adventure, and magazine to make this the most complete listing of spells avalible. Many have also been updated to work with AD&D rules.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Useful but unbalanced
Review: The breakdown of the spells into various groups helps players check spells fast.

But beware, play balance of the spells are poorly done for nearly all spells cast by Elminster, Khelbun, Seven sisters and the major characters in FR.

The rest are alright execpt for some balantly munchkin ones (unidirectional wall of force??). Discretion required.

Summary: Excellent Resource For The Wizard
Review: This book contains ALL of the spells to date in the AD & D game. That's all of them, modules, Tome of Majic, PHB, etc. A must have for the advanced or beginning Wizard. It introduces new schools of majic including elemental maji. Volume One only covers A thru D or E (alphabetically) spells. I'm going to snatch the next volumes as they are out, you should too

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great
Review: This book contains spells used by the Drow, Alhoon (undead illithids), elven high magic, paramanders (a kind of paladin-mage), even the Red Wizards of Thay, and then some!! It is not only useful for rewarding mages with cool new spells, it also gives a pretty clear idea of the characteristics of magic in the different settings. Can't get any spells better than these!

Summary: very useful. great spell tables and specialties.
Review: this volume was the pinacle of the spell compendium. It has spells listed in dozens of different lists with different themes. It includes many specialties from dragon magazine. it also includes optional rules like psionic enchantments and spell paths. A+ material.
