Summary: It kicks some good arse!
Review: The whole story was really good, but I agree that the elves were badly portraited. I read all of RA Salvatore's books, and I really liked the dark elf trilogy. But my point is that some of the elves were almost as evil as the drow, especially the Starym.

Summary: Great Book who want History of Elminster!!!
Review: This book I found was one of the best I've read in all of the Forgotten Realms series of Novels. I would recommend this book to all Forgotten Realms readers and players. It grabs your attention right away and keeps it suspended until the last word is written on the page. Ed Greenwood is one of very few Fantasy authors that can write a book and keep the readers rivited on the pages and wish that they're parents will let them stay up an extra 10 minutes to let them read the last page. The book, like most didn't diminish as it got to the end. It ended and I was still captivated. Although the book did extend on Elminsters jouney and history, I would like to know where he went from there. I hope there will be another sequel to this book as it doesn't answer all my questions. A good book for anyone!

Summary: Great for AD&D readers and or RPGers.
Review: This book is one of the greatest AD&D books that i have ever read. I suggest reading it. It has opened up two new worlds of Coromanthor. And you get familiar with Elminster himself....his thoughts, emotions, honor, loyalty, Kudos to Ed Greenwood

Summary: A great book with much action and intrincated plots!
Review: This is a book that really deserves to be read. I've seem some say Elminster is always painted too perfect and too powerful by Ed Greenwood but he IS an exceptional character by design, one of the great forces of Faerun. As about killing elves at will. He did what he must to survive and always in self-defense and this caused him many difficults along the story. Saying he slaughtered elves at hundreds and no one cared (as I've read Here in a previous review) is erroneous at least and a totally distorted viewpoint in my opnion. When someone threats your life not always you'll come with a way to dominate him without harming or killing him. And rarely you will take the chance of doing that if it presents more risk to you. Last I'd like to say that Fiction Stories, and I'm not talking only about Fantasy or Science Fiction but all Fiction, have idealized and artificial characters that tend to be inconsistent in some aspects but this do not necessarily conts against them. Fiction gives us worlds to explore, realities to uncover and the possibility to see and feel other lifes. And this books succeeds with merit on doing that.

Summary: "Great Book."
Review: This is a great book about a prince and his duties to the gods. Along one of his journeys he encounters many death-defeying feats.

Summary: fun book!
Review: This is not a sweeping epic of high fantasy, if you want that go read Guy Gavriel Kay. What it is, is a very fun book that I didn't put down until I finished. The imagery and characters are very numerous and highly amusing, and Ed Greenwood writes with a great deal of compassion for and insight into all of them.

Oh, and the spell battles are not your vanilla magic missile and lightning bolts, this stuff is much more imaginative.

And definitely read the previous book, "Elminster, the making of a mage".

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Good book, but not as good as "making of a mage"
Review: This was a good book, but it left something to be desired. It wasn't as good as "Making of a Mage" in my oppinion but still a book worth reading.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Good, but be sure to remember all of the names.
Review: This was a great sequel to Elminster: The Making of a Mage. Although alot of times the sequel is a let-down from the first novel, this is not the case here. My only concern is all of the names of the elves that you have to keep track of. You are given many names that are never used elsewhere in the story, or one in the biginning, but not metioned again until the last. Overall, a good story and great detail to let you be inside the intrigue, suspence, and magic that is now Myth Drannor.

Summary: Extreemly good book
Review: this was a very good follow up to Elminster: the making of a mage. It had a mind grabing plot and was a real page turner. I was sad when it ended.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: better than Making of a Mage
Review: This was the best Ed Greenwood book I've read so far, although thats not saying much. It was much better than Making of a Mage (the worst book I've ever read) and much better than Corymr: A Novel (the second worst book I've ever read). Compared to the other Forgotten Realms books this was below average.

Greenwood books are so predictable. Elminster always calls on Mystra to save the day; can't he do anything by himself? And the women always end up naked.

And damn it, Ed, we all know Elminster is just a fantasy version of you which is why he's invincible and beautiful women fall in love with him even though he's ugly.

If there's ever a book where Elminster permanently dies, I'll be the first in line to buy it. If Ed's latest book was titled "Elminster Goes to Hell" I'd buy that one too.
