Summary: His Name is...
Review: His REAL name is Gil Schwartz, who runs corporate communications for all of CBS

Summary: So?
Review: So who is Stanley Bing in so-called real life? I know that he works for Sumner Redstone and Mel Carmizon--not spelled right. Someone must know his name.

Summary: The Machiavelli Mindset
Review: Stanley Bing has done it again with What Would Machiavelli Do? A hilarious, insightful, and all-too-true send-up of corporate America in the era of looking out for Number One.

Summary: Funny...and not.
Review: I got a real kick out of reading this book--it's humorous and I would hope that people take it at that. It's not a philosophical romp or anything of the like--it's just funny.

What ISN'T funny is that it demonstrates a sad state of affairs in business culture today and of yesteryear. Knowing there are managers out there that do practice these principles is somewhat disturbing; you don't have to be a jerk to get ahead.

If anything, this book tells you how to look out for these people--it's up to you to beat them at their own game.

Summary: I doubt Mr. Bing has even read The Prince...
Review: I bought this book based on the reviews on Amazon and am incredibly disappointed. I figured the book wasn't going to be philosophical or even very serious, but I did think it would insightful and interesting. It was neither. The "chapters" are very poorly written and have virtually no point to them. There are no developed examples and no shred of reference to anything in The Prince, other than being mean.

My copy has been relegated to the bathroom, right next to the Far Sides (which are not only more interesting, but more insightful...)

I could not not recommend this book more. The best thing about it is that it only takes 1 hour to read.

Summary: R.I.P Machiavelli.
Review: I'll be the first to admit, I'm a big Machiavelli fan. Along with Napoleon, and other revolutionaries. This book deserves attention, a good compelling read to the end.

I'd also reccommend getting a copy of Machiavelli's Classic ---> "The Prince".

Summary: A Handbook for SUCCESS!
Review: Follow Bing's advice and you'll go far. You'll actually get wherever you want, because you'll be in control! No matter what you do, this book will teach you to get your way. Think this Machiavellic perspective is untrue? All of Machiavelli's advice has proven to be the key of success throughout history.

Don't think acting the way this book tells you will turn you into a sociopath. On the contrary, people will like you even more. If you want happiness, power, success, and wealth, pay close attention to Bing's advice. Moralists, beware! This book may expose you to a part of the world you may prefer to supress.

Summary: The Most Talked About Business Book This Year!
Review: I can't imagine how anybody can get along in today's hyper-competitive work environment without this essential handbook. It's funny and savage and a nice antidote to all the sappy gunk out there. Those who ignore it do so at their own peril. Did I mention it's funny too?

Summary: I'm sure Machiavelli would do better
Review: The problem with this book is not its meanness, it's its brainlesness. This very low end and unimaginative approach to business success is a loser. Perhaps Mr. Bing's busniess experience dates him. Ruthlessness aside, today you have to be smarter and faster than the competition, not cruder, to make it. What Would Machiavelli Do would get Mr. Bing fired in today's market.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Interesting angle for the working masses
Review: Bing takes a pretty severe perspective on what it takes to succeed in this world, and couches it with humor and amusing anecdotes. It's a quick read that's perfect for the subway. Thank god he made it funny or I would have killed myself in order to save myself from a world filled with such ruthlessness and lack of integrity. Judge for yourself, but for me, I am going to keep using a Pollyanna approach to success just to prove him wrong. Wish me luck Mr. Bing and God help Machiavellians on Judgement Day!
