Summary: An unmitigated disaster
Review: This appalling mess of a "book" has too little golf to satisfy golfers and too little humor to satisfy fans of Bill Murray's comedy. Perhaps we're all missing some inside joke that Murray and Peper have concocted here, in which case I guess the joke's on us. Nonetheless, the authors and everyone associated with this project should be embarrassed to have been a part of it. The only way I can explain its status on the bestseller list is the low price, although it's hardly a bargain even at 50 percent off. If you still want to waste your time on this book, I suggest that you pick it up at your local library.

Summary: "It's in the Hole!"
Review: This book is a must read for anyone who: 1) loves golf, 2) has ever been completely broke, and 3) has been broke and loves golf at the same exact time. Murray rambles at times, never mentions the disease that killed his father, and doesn't tell you exactly which of the celebs he plays with shave strokes, but it's a great book nevertheless. Real insite into how you can make it from the caddy shack on up...

Summary: A "Gonzo" Book on Golf
Review: This book reads the way most people play golf, all over the fairway, which is not to say it lacks direction or purpose. It reads like works by a certain 'Gonzo Journalist' who if you don't know or understand you will not like this book. It is in the grand tradition of Kerouac, Cassidy, and Thompson. It is not Golfing in the Kingdom but it is entertaining and revealing.

Summary: Worst Golf Related Book I Have Ever Read!
Review: This Cinderella is a real pumkin. Murray could have shown a little more effort in trying to give the read his/her money's worth. I feel Murray riped me off and wasted my time!

Rating: 1 stars
Summary: Waste of money.
Review: This is a haphazard collection of miscellaneous thoughts that is not worth the time or the money. Mr. Murray was out to collect a paycheck on this one.

Summary: Bill Murray is a funny writer!
Review: This is the first book that Bill Murray has written. I must say that Murray has really done a good job! He's funny, kinda touching and appealing all the way! He talks about his life in golf from his chilhood to the present. From being a caddy, then starring in the greatest golf movie ever made, Caddyshack; and finally become a golfer himself. Some great stories about playing golf with Michael Jordan, Clint Eastwood, Scott Simpson, and Kevin Costnar, etc. Murray also talks about his family and his will to be in show business. There're occasionally some special sections with other people's comments on Bill like Chevy Chase, etc. Furthermore, you can see some pictures of baby Murray and Murray as Pat Boone! You don't have to be a Bill Murray fan to like this book. This is a book for those who are interested in humor, movies, golf, comedy, and biography!! Read this! I enjoy every page of the book and so would you!

Summary: I love Bill Murray, but I'm not sure what this book is.
Review: Where do I begin? The book is certainly not as funny as Bill himself. Also, I knew the book was going to be about golf, but it's really about things related to golf that have nothing to do with Bill, golf, or humor. I'm not sure what I was doing when I bought it. On the plus side, the cover is funny with Bill's hat. There have to be easier ways to become Bill Murray then reading this book.

Summary: Better than Exstacy!
Review: Without a doubt Bill Murray comes off as the sexiest man alive in this book. Women who read this will be thrown into a wild Bill-desiring frenzy and probably tear their clothes off in public. Whoever would have thought that this Cinderella groundskeeper, just a drip from the bush leagues, would ever make it to playing foursomes with Michael Jordan, Hunter Thompson, Ethel Merman, Klaus von Bulow and Yoda, not to mention Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice? A rollicking romp down the green in a giant earth-devouring threshing machine could not be more fun than reading this book. You will desire this book more than sex or cigarettes once you have completed it. I know I do

Summary: Incoherent and not funny
Review: Yes, Bill Murray is one of the best comedic actors of any Hollywood era. Yes, "Caddyshack" is every bit the cinematic masterpiece people in the know tout it as, even if no published critic in the world agrees. Yes, Murray's persona and his golf background would seemingly make for a diverting read. But Cinderella Story is decidedly not that read. It's a mess of a book, written sloppily and fairly joke-free.

Big type and generous spacing make Cinderella Story about as long as this review (not very). But even in that small a frame, it becomes clear that Murray's gifts are strictly in performance and not in writing. Stories run into each other, coming out of nowhere, and only to mention some of the famous folks Murray has hit the links with (Michael Jordan, Clint Eastwood, etc.). Those stories are rarely interesting, and are told without any sense of structure. Murray (or his ghostwriter George Peper, who apparently needs a ghostwriter of his own) jumps from one story to another and back without helping the reader keep everything sorted out. Superior literary humorists, like Bill Bryson, have a talent for telling anecdotes in a concise, purposeful fashion. That's what's missing here. Only a brief, and I mean brief, recalling of the original "Cinderella story" scene from "Caddyshack" offers readers any enjoyment. The rest is muddled and ultimately boring.

Other sections of the book include pictures and filler anecdotes from other people telling stories about how funny Murray is. If only this book was. Look, Bill Murray is an outstanding comedian who is woefully underrated as a true actor. But Cinderella Story only makes you want to see him do what he does best, and not read what does poorly.
