Rating: Summary: Saying the things we all think once in a while! Review: It's about time someone put all of those little sarcastic, negative thoughts we all have from time to time in a neat little collection that we can all laught at! Real life is ALWAYS more amusing than fiction, and Jimmy and Gloria offer a pessimistic but humorous view on everything from being single to public transportation in this book that after reading, you can't help but sharing with all of your friends. I've been a Jimmy fan since his debut on SNL and recommend it to all fans!
Rating: Summary: :) Review: I thought this was a really cute book and it made me laugh out loud in places, but it was really small and it was an extremely short read. I live in Canada and paid 12 bucks for it, and although it was good, I really don't think it was worth that amount. My advice? Read it, but don't buy it unless you are a Jimmy Fallon fan. :)
Rating: Summary: Thank you Santa Review: After some minor delays, UPS and his reindeers finally showed up with this book - AND BOY WAS IT WORTH IT! These guys can see the bad side to a bowl of Jello! Anyone who knows that 'Are we having fun or what?' really means 'What?' gets 11/10 in my book! When do we see the sequel! I can't wait!

Rating: Summary: Enter the world of The Pessimist... Review: I HATE THIS PLACE: The Pessimist's Guide to LifeJimmy Fallon Saturday Night Live Cast Member and Gloria Fallon 1-57500-049-0 Trade Paperback Original; 128 Pages; illustrated throughout Finally a self-help book that has a REAL perspective on life Absolutely devoid of any spiritual or religious significance or meaning, I HATE THIS PLACE: The Pessimist's Guide to Life is a humorous take on self-help books created by two people with a unique brand of humor. A character born in the minds of Jimmy Fallon and his sister Gloria Fallon as they communicated with each other via email from Los Angeles and Boston, "The Pessimist" offers a peculiar and hilarious take on the common occurrences of everyday life - an inspired antidote to the usual self-help book. The title of this book says it all. It includes wonderfully pessimistic chapters such as "If you were thinking of....(Don't!)," "When people say...(they really mean...)," "Personal reflections of the Pessimist," and "Daily affirmations for the Pessimist." Here are a few gems that show you that there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow: "Some days I wake up, and stare at the ceiling. Then I think, 'Man, I wish it was tomorrow." "Whenever I'm stuck in traffic, I can't help but wonder, 'Where did the creator of 'The Jetsons' go, and why hasn't he done something about this??'" "Sometimes I wish that I had a terrible childhood, so that at least I'd have an excuse." "They say a dog is man's best friend. That's if you're lucky enough to get one of those 'friendly' dogs." In the tradition of Al Franken's Stuart Smalley and Jack Handley's Deep Thoughts (both of which were first seen on Saturday Night Live and went on to become bestsellers), I HATE THIS PLACE will strike a chord with readers everywhere. Afterall, there is a pessimist inside all of us just waiting to get out! About the Authors: Jimmy Fallon and Gloria Fallon were born a year apart in Brooklyn, New York, to Jim and Gloria Fallon (yes, you read that correctly), and were raised upstate in Saugerties. They both attended college in the Albany area. After college the two Fallons went their separate ways, moving to Los Angeles and Boston respectively. I HATE THIS PLACE started as cross-country e-mail messages between brother and sister, making each other laugh while they were miles apart. With Jimmy's background in comedy and Gloria's background in writing, the two siblings decided to write a book. While they are excited about having their first book published, the Fallons still hate this place.
Rating: Summary: I LOVED THIS BOOK, PURE GENIUS!!! Review: Apparently humor runs in the Fallon family. These two reflecta genius that so rarely can be seen in people from upstate New York. This book, a clever collection of snide observations and thoughts, causes even the most diehard, bitter pessimist to laugh out loud. And that, my book-buying friends, is comedy.
Rating: Summary: Two "wild and crazy" kids... Review: "I Hate This Place: The Pessimist's Guide to Life" is a clever assortment of pessimism at its very best. (It is also quite invigorating...with or without six cups of coffee.) Jimmy and Gloria Fallon, two "wild and crazy" siblings, have collaborated to create a fine owner's manual that successfully explains the pessimistic mind. No need to bring an umbrella. It won't rain on your parade...it's probably been cancelled, anyway. On a lighter note...Be sure to throw out all of your pennies, because, after all, "pennies are worthless." (Unless, of course, you superglue them to the floor of a subway train--when people try to pick them up, they retain some entertainment value.)
