Review: I am Jewish. I didn't have much Jewish education beyond my Bar Mitzvah. A girlfriend who is not Jewish gave me this book. At first to be honest, I wasn't interested. But then I got into it. It opened the world of Jewish culture in a very unusual way. First with humor, then facts. I'm a trivia nut so that grabbed me. But then the author, in a very clever way, introduced me to small bits of literature, history, quotes, language, and for the first time, I got a real sense of what my parents have been trying to tell me about who I am and what I came from.This book actually inspired me. Review: I received A little Joy, A Little Oy as a Hanukkah gift this year and love it! It's chock-full of the most unusual, entertaining, funny and heartwarming pieces. So many Jewish books are either all jokes -- or a heavy read. The balance of this book is astounding. A terrific read. I highly recommend it. Milton Sorenson

Summary: a little joy, a little oy is a joy!
Review: Imagine my surprise when I opened this little book and found a myriad of just about everything jewish! The thing that stood out was the vast variety of material that covered so many areas of interest. It was a bit like the best of all things Jewish. As a non-Jew myself, I bought it for my boyfriend and his family. I was particularly impressed with the chapters on Strange and Wonderful Bedfellows that described some of the non-Jewish heroes of the Holocaust. This book is loaded! I also loved the lists of famous Jews in all areas of culture. The research that went into this is remarkable! The only problem is, it's hard to find in the stores. I strongly recommend this little jewel to anyone who wants to learn and feel what it's like to be Jewish. In addition to the humor, many of the passages are very emotional and haunting. GREAT BUY!
