Summary: Man from U.N.C.L.E. book
Review: The Man from U.N.C.L.E. Tv series was the most innovative & creative Tv series of all time, specially during the first seasons. It became a Tv & commercial hit. Heitland's Man from U.N.C.L.E. book does the series justice. It is full of interesting behind the scene photos as well as nostalgic promotion photos. The narrative is detailed. Heitland interviwed the stars & the behind the camera staff. He produced a very informative book on the series' creation, production, success, changes & eventual end. An excellent book for all U.N.C.L.E. fans & for all who are interested in Tv history & for all who just want a good book.

Summary: All wasted hype
Review: There has been a sudden deluge of narrow-minded praises about this overhyped book which was less worthy than the preceding UNCLE Files that gave a better prespective of UNCLE.

Summary: Excellent book for classic television fans
Review: This book is a classic itself and it has everything a reader -- and fan of classic television could want! I particularly enjoyed the behind the scenes look at the personalities and dynamics that made this show such a memorable one. Baby boomers grew up as U.N.C.L.E. agents and this is a wonderful way to step back into time without having to wear those ugly white go-go boots! Anyone who isn't instantly charmed by Heitland's obvious love of the show and exacting detail just has to be a Thrush agent! Well worth the price -- especially for the episode guide and listing of MFU publications. This book's a classic on its own.

Summary: The most complete book on the television series!
Review: This book is a must have if you are a fan of THE MAN & GIRL FROM U.N.C.L.E. television series. In depth information; exclusive interviews with the stars, directors, producers and behind the scenes people. Detailed information on the episodes, etc., etc. This is the most complete reference book on the market today on the television show.

Summary: Could be better!
Review: This book is only for regressive fans who sympathize for the lost memory of an overestimated TV hack of 007. It's a good table book to be read while waiting in the dentist's office. Otherwise, read it through and sell it off! Otherwise, throw it in your fireplace!

Summary: Wonderful book - a must read for classic TV fans
Review: This book is the definitive study of the classic television series "The Man From U.N.C.L.E." Heitland is a wonderful writer who did exhaustive research in compiling this book and it shows. He not only tells the behind the scenes stories, but includes an episode guide and a guide to books and other items sold in connection with the show. MFU was one of the most popular shows for the Baby Boomer generation and Jon Heitland's book is one terrific read. Take a trip back to the sixties and start remembering how much fun they really were! Only Thrush agents would find fault with this book -- and we all know what kind of people they are!

Summary: A typical 1980s TV book
Review: This book was published in 1987 and is obviously not a rare item, in 2004. The quality does deem it a five star but a three star at most. This book tries in itself try to do what was already attempted at a few years prior, a look at a 60s spy craze era tv series which while being the first, it was in no manner the best, with [...] yet improvised shows like I Spy, Mission Impossible and The Wild Wild West, surpassing the original in either action or realism. The last half of its 2nd year and the complete 3rd year proved its days were numbered!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If it were not for this series, the above mentioned shows would certainly not have thrived! Those who praise this book too much need to realize that all books published on this series require perusal, not just this ego-inflating item.

Summary: The best book on the subject .
Review: This is the best book on "The Man from UNCLE" ever written. I've read the UNCLE Files and they just don't compare to this book. All these negative reviews must be from younger people who were not around when this show first appeared. Everything they know about secret agents they got from Austin Powers. When I read they should use an Uzi and not the UNCLE special it reminds me of Scott Evil saying "why don't you just shoot him "and Dr. Evil saying "you just don't get it do you Scott" .
They just don't get it.

Summary: The definitive U.N.C.L.E. book
Review: This is the definitive book on The Man From U.N.C.L.E.- the first and best of the American television secret agent series in the sixties. There is a lot of information in this book, and it is well written and well organized. I have looked through a few dozen books on television series, many are error riddled and amateurish, some are pretty good, but only a handful are really excellent. Jon Heitland's book is among those excellent few. The entire story of the series is presented from conception through cancellation, with insights about its success and ultimate failure. There are also chapters covering the ill fated made for televison Return movie and The Girl From U.N.C.L.E.
