Rating: Summary: definitive guide... Review: There is nothing else like this book. If you like the series, or if you still watch the series, you've got to have this book. It is an excellent effort, a lot of historical tid-bits. Many observations and insights. It does have chapters on "Twilight Zone-The Movie," and the later Twilight Zone TV series. It also has info on "Night Gallery." It's fun to read and a great compainion to watching the episodes, it helps you appreciate the acting and writing talent much more. While you're at it, be sure and locate and buy a Twilight Zone Pinball machine - it's also excellent.
Rating: Summary: An eccellent book on Rod serling and The Twilight Zone. Review: This book details the life of Rod Serling and his work on The Twilight Zone TV series. It also tells us about his problems on The Night Gallery series with the producers of the show and it also gives some information on the very under-rated 1985-87 version of The Twilight Zone.Well worth buying. P.S.-a tip for the sellers of this book. It's not really a good idea to have 19 sample pages and have most of them showing the index!
Rating: Summary: Maybe needs an update Review: This book was perfect in 1989. However, with the advent of the DVD's and VHS tapes which contains almost all the episodes, including those which are not in syndication, and the Sci-Fi Channel re-runs, it might need a brief update. Anyway, it's one of the best tv shows review book in the market.
Rating: Summary: You're never alone with this "companion"! Review: This fantastic book details every episode with a cast list, plot summary, the begining and ending Serling voice-overs, and even behind-the-scenes info on the crew, the story's origin, and the actual filming itself. They're all here, and in one collection. I read this thing everywhere -- at lunch, on the bus, late at night, heck, even on the throne (but that's probably a little too much information.) This may just be the best book I've yet purchased from Amazon.com. TRUST ME, YOU WILL NOT BE SORRY IF YOU ADD THIS TO YOUR SHOPPING CART!
Rating: Summary: One of my three favorite books Review: This has to be one of my three favorite books. The other two are "The Outer Limits Companion" by David Schow and "The Alfred Hitchcock Presents Companion" by Martin Grams. Like those books, The Alfred Hitchcock Presents Companion covers the complete background production, synposis and episode guide, rare photos, and magnificent documentary approach. Great biography about Rod Serling, superb background on each broadcast, nice chapter about Serling's Night Gallery and the other Serling programs including 1980s version of TZ, and more. Great photos. To make it short and sweet (and I mean this literally) this the hands-down, ultimate book on the subject. Buy it!

Rating: Summary: Twilight Zone Companion? -- Yes! Review: This is a good companion book to an outstanding television series. Each of the episodes is reviewed in varying amounts of detail (a weakness which the author allowed to bleed though into his work) from very detailed and complete with character quotes to a sketchy couple of lines. However, each episode has Rod's introduction and summary included for the reader's enjoyment. The real benefit of reading this work is the behind the scenes insights you'll get on the writers and producers of the series -- as well as the typical network ratings vs production battle. Some coverage of the more used actors may also be found in the volume -- although detail is limited. The book itself is organized by season and show - with some background on the 'why' of the series. Individual episodes can easily be located making this an excellent 'by the television' book to have. Stills from the series are limited to what appears to be a 'stock' photo; but this doesn't detract much from the overall value of the book. One thing is for certain ... you'll know which episodes Marc though well of and which he didn't from the capsulations. Ones he didn't like get a very short treatment. * Recommended * ~P~
Rating: Summary: This book is the best! Review: This is the beast book I have ever read. Rod Serling is a genious. Any one who likes Sci-Fi or mystery will love this book!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Good source of info and stories Review: Twilight Zone fans will thoroughly enjoy this book. There is a good amount of background information about Rod Serling and his rise as a sucessful and popular writer for television and his move to make the Twilight Zone a reality. There are also snippets of his early childhood and what sort of individual he was. The rest of the book goes into details about the production aspects of TZ and gives a behind-the-scenes look of each Twilight Zone episode. The anecdotes and tales about what went on in making the episodes is very interesting. There are also assorted background stories on the staff that worked on the TZ such as the producers, actors and writers. TZC also gives an inside look at the politics involved in shooting TZ and the troubles that Serling had with the CBS network in producing the show as he wanted it to be. One should be warned, however, that each episode review has a beginning "spoiler"... the first few paragraphs summarize the plot *and* the twist ending of the show. If you have not seen all the episodes, the surprise endings will be ruined for you by this intro paragraph. This is what kept the book from getting the full five stars from me. But all in all, a pretty interesting book on one of the best television shows to ever cross the airwaves of America.
Rating: Summary: Twilight Zone Companion is a TZ fan's best companion! Review: When I first laid eyes on this book (at my grandpa's house), I only wanted to check it out. But after I read it, it changed me from a kid who only heard about Twilight Zone from my mom to a huge Twilight Zone fan! This book gives you the scoop on every single episode. A definite must-have, even if you've barely heard of Twilight Zone before!
