Rating: Summary: Lots of information. Review: This book is great if you are looking for a lot of detailed and interesting information about the Simpsons. I was kind of hoping for more full page size pictures, but there are alot of good pictures, just small ones. If you are a Simpsons fan you have to get this book.
Rating: Summary: Simpsons Trivia Nirvana - the early seasons Review: Simply the best show on television. This book makes the perfect companion to the growing DVD release of the Simpsons. At heart, a simple episode guide for fans of the show, but it delves so much further. For a smart show like the Simpsons, so much is put into the small throwaway gags, or the cultural and cinematic references. This book pulls them all together for you. Indispensable to go over what you saw, and what you might have missed. Read sequentially to see the development of the show, or jump from episode to episode, splitting your sides laughing at the antics. For a show coming up on 300 episodes, there is enough detail and gags to fill a half dozen shows. Viva La Simpsons!
Rating: Summary: Reference guide AND Stand-alone humor book Review: This book is a good buy for all sorts of people. It was great for someone like me, who has been taping simpsons for years, and has unpossibly large number of episodes on tape, with little organization, and many repeats. It VERY much helped me to get a handle on what episodes I really had, and which ones I hadn't seen and so forth. You might not have guessed it, but being a true simpsons fan takes some organization. :-) It's also a great book for people who just like the simpsons and want to laugh. They take lots of notable quotes from each episode, and funny things to watch for, etc. All of this is just funny to read even if you're nowhere near a television. Another great part about this book is lists. There are lists of couch gags, bart's chalkboard, who does what voice (this is a GREAT one), Homer's "mmmm... (insert funny thing here)" quotes, etc.... For the price, this is a WEALTH of information for anyone who even just sorta likes the Simpsons. The only thing I could *Possibly* complain about would be that I want MORE. Which, thankfully, comes in the form of more books for more episodes! (hopefully this trend will never stop :-)
Rating: Summary: Exciting, Informative, Humerous! Review: This book is an excellent book that explains each Simpsons episode in lots of detail. It includes pictures from the episode, a breif summary of the episode, a biography of a character in the episode you may not have known well, things you may have missed such as how much Maggie is worth when she goes through the register(in the beginning of each episode. The bok also has show highlights which are funny qoutes from the episode, andwhat Bart writes on the blackboard that day. This book is great for reading on long car rides or plains. It is also a way to become more familiar with The Simpsons. I really liked this book because it is very informative.
Rating: Summary: All you ever wanted to know. Review: As a Simpsons fanatic, this book gave me a way to watch 8 season's of episodes, by reading it. The book includes quotes from the episodes, special characters, the names of who created the episode, the guest stars, a summary of the episode, and stuff you may have missed. The book is great for refrence, but does spoil episodes the you have seen. All in all, it's a best buy.
Rating: Summary: Yes! Yes! Yes! Review: The complete guide to the first 8 seasonsof the greatest prime-time animated series ever is excellent in every way. The show breakdowns are really good and include fantastic art, a short bio of either a minor character or guest star, TV and Movie references, classic dialogue, Stuff You May Have Missed and more! Special sections include Itchy and Scratchy episodes, Krusty Merchandise, which actors do which character voices, a list of couch gags in the opening segment, and there is even an index. "The Simpsons: A Complete Guide..." makes every episode worth reading about (even the ones not worth seeing again)! Also recommended:"The Simpsons Forever!" which continues with seasons 9-10; "The Simpsons Guide to Springfield" and "Bart Simpson's Guide to Life".
Rating: Summary: Brings back lots of memories Review: This book is an episode guide for the Simsons through its 8th season. It truly does have great features, and brings back loads of hilarious memories. It features episode summaries, show highlights, classic lines, chalkboard gags and tons of other great stuff. The parts I was disappointed with were the "Movie Moments" which I felt were unneccessary and took up room that could be used for more highlights, and the "Stuff you may have missed" which are things that no REAL fan would have missed. Still, very funny to read.
Rating: Summary: A Must Buy For The Avid Simpsons Fan Review: This book contains a detailed run-down of every episode of the Simpsons in the first nine seasons.
