Rating: Summary: A Ho-Hum Thing Review: If you've ever heard someone tell a story, get no response, then say "I guess you just had to be there" then you'll know what it's like to read this book. At best, I'd call this a collection of "nice" friendship stories and bonding moments. But as far as the "wild" side of women's friendships, this book was a let-down. Perhaps the stories got better in the last half, because I could only read the first half before I gave up.
Rating: Summary: Men and women are NOT equal. Women are better:) Review: In a world where women are constantly struggling for equality, here is a book that celebrates how special, wonderful and unique the female experience is. Men and women are NOT equal. Women are better :) and here is a book full of stories to prove it! Women share a special bond with one another and the stories really bring out that message. I wasn't sure at first I would like it but it surpassed my expectations by being sincere and honest about how women forge friendships and maintain them over time. This book treats the memories of women as the treasures that they are. Hurrah for chicks!
Rating: Summary: The most fabulous book of all time! Review: In my totally unbiased opinion this is the best book ever! Alright, a little biased, as I am a contributor...The stories are great, and the fun little sidebars are the best. What other book helps you figure out your Catholic Schoolgirl or your Partygirl Name, along with friendly tips on getting rid of unwanted men in bars? Amy and Emily, you have done a great job!
Rating: Summary: You Go Girls! Review: Initially I thought this would be a book that would just have some cute stories. I was truly surprised at the emotions this book brought out. I read the book cover to cover with tears of laughter and sorrow coming down my face. Nothing beats your group of chicks and how you bond through boys, illness, triumphs, and hijinks. Loved it! Will be a gift for all the chicks on my list this year! - Meg

Rating: Summary: A superbly presented celebration of women's friendships. Review: It's a Chick Thing celebrates the wild side of women's friendships in modern society, offering spirited stories which explore the nature of female friendships and the female tendency toward thrill seeking and close connections. From the escapades of singers and stars to women who overdress and hold zany parties, this is a fine celebration, packed with fun and zip.

Rating: Summary: Proud to be a chick Review: Its a chick thing was a great look into the lives and laughs of friends--you've done it, you wished you had done it--you can laugh at the chicks that did it! I've given it to all my special friends who can share a good laugh and dose of reality. Being a chick is ageless! Must read!
Rating: Summary: a "Girl Power" surge Review: Let's face it--anything that encourages us to cherish our girlfriends, nurture our connections with other women, AND have a "no regrets" attitude toward life is definitley a good thing. Take this book for what it is--a sweet celebration of friendship from the silly, spontaneous outbursts to the profound moments of support and connection. Makes a great gift.
Rating: Summary: I felt like the designated driver Review: My book club read this book and we disagreed with the majority of Amazon reviews of this book. Comments from my club ranged from "I felt like the designated driver" because we couldn't see what was so funny about most of these alcohol-driven scenarios - to comments such as "it was depressing" to read story after story of these life-long friendships when you couldn't feel a part of any of these groups. Some of the things that happened between the friends weren't things that we would want our friends to do to us. In one story, a so-called best friend had sex with the other friend's love interest in the back seat of a car, while the unsuspecting friend waited in a building, wondering what was taking her friend so long. When she snuck up on her friend having sex in the car with her love-interest, she wasn't even upset. She was more concerned about not seeing the two of them naked. I agree with one other Amazon reviewer in her comment about the stories being mostly geared toward women in their 50s-70s who used to have a good time with the gals. As a 33-year-old, most of the stories were hard for me to relate to. This book wasn't anything that I expected. I wish I had someone to give the book to who would enjoy it, but I can't think of anyone I can pawn it off on.
