Summary: A wonderful book, by no means only for ages 9 - 12
Review: Although this is a companion to the equally clever " CDB", by the same author, this book, with its sophisticated phrases and illustrations, is even funnier and more impressive to grown-up readers. To rate it for "Readers 9 - 12" does it a disservice. It is a delight for any age.

Summary: This book is very entertaining - - for the whole family!!!!
Review: Couldn't figure out one puzzle that went something like - "Everyone here is ...." and then "D P".

Any clues please let me know the solution to the puzzle; it has been driving me and my 9 year old daughter crazy. Thanks.

Review: If you enjoy struggling - and moaning at the punning clues - with the NYT crossword, you'll have a good time and a quick read, one that you'll want to repeat when feeling low. I brought my copy to the office; and am ordering more as gifts for twisted minds. FYI, the caption in question says to me, "Everyone here is dippy."

Summary: Very enjoyable!
Review: In the on-line review of Wm. Steig's "CDC" the reviewer should know better that "the cure" in William Steig's rendition would be represented by "D Q-R"....shame on you. I am a huge fan of this clever book and love the corresponding pictures! What a blast! They have stood the test of time, I purchased "CDB"in 1969 when I was in jr. high and now as a parent with 5 children of my own, we still have a great time with the books!

Summary: D-Q-R should be D Q-R for "the cure"...TWO words, not one!!!

Summary: Very enjoyable!
Review: My four children have enjoyed this book , as well as CDB. I brought both books in to my son's 4th grade "Reading Day" and the whole class participated in the "puzzle-solving" text. They had so much fun with both books!! I highly recommend these books for a fun and interactive read!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Very clever, but not for all ages
Review: This is a very clever book and it's quite fun reading. However, my 4 year old and I read together all the time and I bought this for him thinking it would be good for him too, but some of the picture themes are not interesting for a small child. This would be good for a 9-10 years +.

Summary: The DP Line
Review: When there was great influx of immigration to the USA due to war or crop failures in other countries, these folks became known as "Displaced Persons" or "DPs" (which, I realize, is NOT the politically correct phrase currrently, but it WAS in common usage at the turn of the 20th century) - check out the different costuming in the drawing shown for this caption - they are all people from different nations in their national garb.
