Rating: Summary: A Lough out Loud book! Review: I recommend this book for anyone who wants a good laugh. Same with all of Dave Barry's other books, it contains light fluffy material that you can read and pick up on anytime and anywhere. And pretty much anyone will find what he writes humorous. THis is because his material is understandable to anyone who reads it. His "guide to guys" is truly observative humor even though he tends to exaggerate a lot (which makes it all the more funny).
This book is divided into chapters based on different categories of "guyness". FOr example one chapter could deal with guys actting macho, or problems of guys, etc. This is great because you can flip to the chapter of your choice, you don't have to read it front to back. THis is what i tend to do on my 2nd or 3rd read. THe great thing about Dave Barry books is that you can read it over and over again, and the jokes remain fresh.
The only problem i have with this book is that it tends to be repetitive in some subjects. And also, the transition from subject to subject may seem abrupt. But all in all i toootally recommend this book to anyone, guy or girl. You'll really get a good laugh out of this.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious, Irreverent, and Brilliant Review: I think Dave's been reading my diary -- I've dated or am related to most of the guys he describes in this book. I laughed all the way through it, and I actually managed to get an understanding of the male psyche. I give Barry credit for being so willing to poke fun at the stereotypes about male behaviour. A must read for any woman!
Rating: Summary: Dave's Best Book Ever Review: I think I've read 95% of Dave's books, and this is the one he was born to write. It's not just hilarious, it's wise. I recommended about five years ago that evolutionary psychologists take Dave seriously as a source of brilliant insights into gender differences. I was pleased to see that MIT cognitive scientist Steven Pinker's new bestseller "The Blank Slate" quotes Barry at length and praises him: "Every generation has its designated jokers, from Shakespearean fools to Lenny Bruce, who give voice to truths that are unmentionable in polite society. Today, part-time humorists like [Kurt] Vonnegut, and full-time ones like Richard Pryor, Dave Barry, and the writers of The Onion, are continuing that tradition."
Rating: Summary: I've only got one complaint- Review: My only complaint with Dave Barry books is that they're so good, you plow through them too fast. When you're done, you always want more. If you are a guy, you'll sympathize with this book. If you're a woman, you might learn a bit about what guys do.
Rating: Summary: Gut-busting laughs Review: This book had me CRYING at times, it was so funny! My husband has had this book for a few years and let me read it to "explain" how it wasn't his fault that he does braindead things...because he's a guy. After reading this book, I still think that he's clueless most of the time, but I enjoy it more. =) This book is the funniest thing I have ever read...make sure you don't read it with someone in your home or they'll get mad at you for laughing so hard! Seriously, ya gotta buy this book...I've never thought male stupidity could be so entertaining!!
Rating: Summary: I?m dying stop, you're killing me ! Review: This book is, with out a doubt, the most hilarious book I've ever had the pleasure of reading. It's hard to believe that Dave could have you laughing 1 to 2 (mostly two) times per page !!! Dave Barry is one of the most gifted writers ever and I can't get over the brilliance of his work. When it comes to humor he is pure genius. Buy this book, you need to laugh more, seriously.

Rating: Summary: Laugh out loud Review: This is a very very funny book. You can open it up on any page, read a couple of sentences, and get a laugh. Don't read this book in public, people will look at you funny since you'll either have a smile on your face or be trying to hold in a laugh. It talks about totally irrelevant subjects, but ones we all recognize and I'm sure you "guys" can all identify with. You won't be wasting your money.
Rating: Summary: I'm hooked on Barry! Review: This was the first book by Dave Barry that I ever read. I loved it. He really captures the funny fundementals of what it means to be a guy. Now I'm hooked on Dave Barry and plan to read his other titles.
Rating: Summary: Guide to Guys: A Big Hit Review: While reading Dave Barry's Complete Guide To Guys, I laughed so hard that I almost hit my head on a table. The book is essentially a hysterical explanation of all those things related to guys that normal human beings are unaware of. It begins with an introduction that explains the main differences between men, women, and guys. It then goes on to a "Guyness" quiz, in which the reader can determine whether or not he/she is a guy. It then discusses guy contributions to history, which can be summarized as: absolutely nothing. Next, Barry talks about the biological nature of guys, more specifically why they "act like jerks." He goes on further to tell about the social development, and lack of it, for guys. Next he discusses guy problems, guy medical issues, guys and violence, guys in action, etc. Barry covers every aspect of guys possible, and then some. The book is ultimately one of the funniest pieces of literature I have ever read. It is packed full of jokes, puns, one-liners and hysterical footnotes. It is suitable for young adults and older. I would recommend the book for guys, naturally, as the book is the most funny when one can relate to it. I also recommend that non-guys read the book as well, because it offers insight for normal human beings as to the nature of guys and why they act the way they do. In sum, if you're a guy and need a good laugh, then this is most definitely the book for you.
