Summary: Great stuff!!
Review: This is the ultimate inside scoop! In this book, you get to peer behind the camera and see what really happens on the set of Trading Spaces. Not only do you get in-depth profile chapters on all of the designers and carpenters, you also get to glimpse their inspiration. Plus, it's full of design tips. The book is long-it is really full of everything-including Gen's design inspiration, Frank's humor (which is hilarious) and even a picture of Doug when he played Danny Zucko in a production of Grease. If you are a junkie-or even just a compassionate fan-there is an episode guide at the back of the book so you can find all the different cities they've been to and what rooms were re-done etc. The retro illustrations, colorful photos, and funky design make it fun to page through. It's also written really well--the text is engaging, chatty and easy to follow (I even found my husband sneaking a peek and he got caught up in a chapter)! While it's fun to see photos of Laurie in highschool and pics of Hildi in Paris, the stories about how these folks became designers and how they like to work is quite inspirational. The photographs of the finished rooms are gorgeous and you can see how some of the design decisions were made. Tips about fabric choice and applying stylistic influences are icing on a picture-perfect cake. I highly recommend this for any TS fan or aficionado.

Summary: Everything you ever want to know about Doug Wilson, but....
Review: This book is a good example of savvy marketing at it's best. My husband and I have watched the show ever since the Alex Mcloud era, and we were hoping to get some tips and how-tos on some of the designs we've seen over the years. This book is basically a big biography of the designers- I could give a flying fig where Doug Wilson went to High School, I want to know how he does those cool paint techniques! If you're looking for tips and techniques like me, hold out until August- TLC will be releasing two more books from the TS camp; one on furniture, paint and fabric, and the other on accessories. However if you're really looking for poster-size photos of the designers (I kid you not), look no further.

Summary: Not the book I thought it would be,..
Review: After a long wait for a Trading Spaces book (the series in now in its third year!), when this book finally was announced, I expected it to be a companion piece to the tv show: a step-by-step how-to on some of the highlights of the show. It is not. Instead, they chose to give us photos and bios of each of the cast members, along with limited "tips and tricks." And even at that, they failed to go the distance: I mean, com'on: aren't you the least bit curious to see what Hilde's home looks like??? Unfortunately, this book does not go that far.

Also, the look of this "book" is somewhat disappointing: it's more of a bound magazine. The layout is what I would call "retro 60s" and the flow is kind of rough on the eyes.

I wouldn't dismiss this book entirely, tho. For what it is (OK, so it isn't the book we all expected!), it is interesting and readable. They promise 2 more books come August, more along the line of the show. Let's hope these forthcoming books are more promising.

Summary: If you love Trading Spaces this is for you!
Review: I was so happy to see a book of my favorite show. This book is a fun one to have if you watch the show, and even if you don't, you will find some fun decorating tips, and will still enjoy it. If you aren't familliar with the show, two neighbors change rooms for two days and re-do the room. They can only spend 1,000, and they have to stay in the other person's home so they can't see what is happening in their home. they have the help of a designer, and some of the designers are off the wall. You will find that this book is good for a fan of the show, and if you haven't watched it yet, do it before getting the book, you will enjoy the book so much more.

Review: Love Trading Spaces! This is a good book to give you insight about the show.

Summary: Good for fans, but it does have some problems
Review: I'd probably rate this closer to a 3 1/2. The majority of the book contains biographies of the designers, carpenters, and Paige. At the end, all of the episodes from the first three seasons are listed, which includes the designers and a few details. It is a good book if you're a Trading Spaces fan, which I am, but the title doesn't really match the content. There is very little that is "behind the scenes" (although there is some, and it is interesting). The biographies don't go as in-depth as I'd have liked, and there were a few typos, which gave the book a less professional feel. It's good for a die-hard fan, and I am glad I bought it, but I also bought it used off amazon, and I don't know what I would be willing to pay full price for this.

Summary: Okay...this book gets old fast...even though the show rocks!
Review: This book is primarily a tell-all about the designers and the hostess of the show Trading Spaces. While the book has a few tips and tricks, it is not about learning skills. I'm a huge fan of the show, so I enjoyed reading about these characters who frequent my living room. The book is put together in a colorful fashion with loads of beautiful photos and is fun to read. If you like the show and want to learn more about the cast, then read this book.

Summary: Great fun for true fans
Review: Oh sure you're left with unanswered questions, but what's wrong with a little mystery? I really enjoyed this book!

Summary: If you love the show you have tobuy this
Review: This book looks and feels like the Trading Spaces TV show. If you love the show, you have to have this. Behind the scenes pix are good but what I really like are thte shots of rooms from the show. I can spend time enjoying rooms that went by too fast when I watched them on TV. The book is as fun as the show.
