Summary: This book will make you a rock star
Review: I'm currently using this book to learn guitar from scratch. It's really well paced. Each lesson is challenging, but not impossible by any means. My only criticism is that I wish the examples included familar songs. That would make practice much more fun. Also, there's a typo on page 68.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A must-have for guitar beginners
Review: I've been taking lessons from Nick for several months now. Really cool guy and an awesome musucian. His book offers very down-to-earth and fun way to enter the world of guitar playing.

Summary: Pretty Darn Good
Review: I've taught beginners using several "method" books (Mel Bay, Bay and Christianson, Leavitt's Berklee series), and I've currently settled on this one. While I'd prefer not using tablature as a crutch, many students refuse to learn standard notation. Vecchio's book has both, so the motivated student can learn standard notation. Additionally, students respond better to modern material than "Wildwood Flower" or the dreaded "Fourth String Study". The combination of flatpick and fingerstyle is also a nice touch.
