Summary: A REFERENCE MASTERWORK: A MUST-HAVE FOR ALL FILM BUFFS
Review: Film historian David Wilt has been researching the cinema of Mexico for over 20 years, and this massive volume is the incredible fruit of his Herculean labors. There has never been a comprehensive English-language book covering the films of Mexico before, and as such, this is a first.

Even better, THE MEXICAN FILMOGRAPHY is a fascinating, thorough and eye-opening romp through an amazing body of work, heretofore largely relegated to footnotes in world cinema history.

Being a hopeless Mexican cinephile, I started at the beginning, reading THE MEXICAN FILMOGRAPHY like a novel, and learnt much from every page. However, the volume is equally useful as a needs-based reference guide to anyone seeking information on a particular artist, actor, technician, genre, era, company, or film series (Mexican cinema is full of classic film series).

In addition, the book is copiously illustrated with photographs and poster art which really brings this unique film canon to life.

I really believe there is no other volume in existance quite like this one; this is a rare and precious work that will keep you both educated and fascinated for years to come.

Every time I pick up this extraordinary volume, I am lost for at least an hour. Bravo, Mr. Wilt.
