Rating: Summary: HAYS PUBLISHING'S UPDATED, ALGEBRAIC VERSION OF CHESS PRAXIS Review: This modern version of Nimzowitsch's 'Chess Praxis' is the companion version to 'My System - 21st Century Edition.' It is edited for the modern reader and has been converted to algebraic notation. The number of diagrams was doubled from the old 1936 edition. Nimzowitsch's entertaining wit shows through in this book, as in 'My System.' The solid foundation built in 'My System' is demonstrated in the games of 'Chess Praxis.' The strange word 'praxis' actually means 'practice,' and this is the 'practice' of Nimzowitsch's hypermodern 'system' as shown in his own games. After I published the modern version of 'My System' in 1991, many purchasers of that book wrote and begged for an updated volume of 'Chess Praxis' to study. My good friend, Kenneth Artz, took on the job and re-edited the entire text. 'Chess Praxis,' like 'My System' is one of the most instructive books ever written on chess, and this new volume contains fifteen new games from modern times demonstrating the wonderful ideas of Nimzowitsch. As an added bonus,USCF Senior Master John Hall fully annotates and links these new games to Nimzowitsch's hypermodern ideas. As seen in the review below, chess players, like magic, are able to beat experts and strong Class "A" players once they have fully absorbed the ideas in 'My System' and 'Chess Praxis.' Join the thousands of happy purchasers of this volume and experience humor and greatness of Grandmaster Aron Nimzowitsch with Hays Publishing's modern, updated version of 'Chess Praxis.'
Rating: Summary: Will repay close study ten-fold Review: Very much the workbook which accompanies the textbook (My System) Gives more example's of Nimzowitsch's theories. Not bad as a collection of Nimzowitsch's games either, though you may wish to supplement this with Keene's book, which also covers the period in time after the publication of these books. As a standalone book, it is very good. Read after My System, indispensable.
