Summary: Documents a long-neglected piece of Chicago
Review: If there's one constant about nightclubs, it's that they're contantly closing and reopening. Over time, the names and addresses are forgotten and end up being remembered as "...some place over on Clark and Lake". I used to frequent a lot of the places pictured in this book, (Plugged Nickel, The Midas Touch, The Showboat) and it's nice to see them again.

Plus, there are great photographs of the musicians, be they locally famous or world-renowned.

Some of the addresses and captions are a bit erroneous, but this is probably due to the fact that John Steiner died before this book could be compiled and his expertise could be mined.
