Summary: Jerry Patterson made me a serious casino game player!
Review: I have been a recreational gambler for the last 10 years. I have made a dozen or so trips to Atlantic city within this time. I have always played blackjack, and I always seemed to basically break even (or only leave the casino up or down 20 dollars.) I have always been intrigued with the game of craps but found it confusing and the one time that I played, I lost fifty dollars in the the space of about ten or fifteen minutes so I gave up on the game because I didn't know what I was doing. This book took the mystery out of the game! For the first time, I knew what all the markings on the table were and how to bet the game. On one particularly lucrative casino cruise outing I knew exactly what I was doing. I tripled my money at the craps table after reading Mr. Patterson's book. After the casino closed, the other players complemented me on how skillfully I rolled the dice. I didn't have the heart to tell them that I was a beginner. I did, however, turn the table into a hot table with everyone cashing out big. I credit this book with my success and Jerry Patterson has the best systems for winning at a casino.

Summary: This book fills in all the missing pieces
Review: I have been playing blackjack for 10 years and always thought there was more to winning than just knowing how to play each hand. This book has provided all the missing pieces of winning at blackjack that I can use right away. It all made perfect sense looking back on my previous experiences. This coupled with his mental preparation has made blackjack much more exciting to scout and play. I am honestly winning at blackjack now. The craps information is a must read. I am a novice at craps and this rhythm rolling has actually earned me a round of applause at a table even though I had been playing for only a month. There is definitely something to this. I am very interested in roulette now and feel informed enough to play with confidence. I recommend this book to anyone starting out in casino play. This book goes beyond the rules of the games and reveals ways to actually win at the casino.

Summary: For the Gambler, and self-improvment seeker.
Review: I have paid particular attention to chapter two of this book. For anyone who is a beginner, or is considering becoming a serious player, I highly recommend reading Jerry's book, BEFORE placing any wagers at the casinos. Chapter two deals with the psychology behind those neon signs, and how to confront it. Jerry's approach to the world of Gaming, is a labrotory of human behavoir, and statistical data. He commissioned a doctor of psychology to study the affects the casinos have on us, while we are in there playing. Each chapter of the book has an accumlative background of years of research, along with, trial and error. For myself, I have strengthened many disciplines, and found his Sixteen Axioms, on page 21, applicable to my other goals in life. I will be using his outline as a basis for my own business development, as well as the business of being a player at the tables. I will use this book for reference, and reassurance. Jerry, and his co-authors, write in a clear and understandable dialogue that is refreshing, and real. If you are thinking about doing a little, or a lot of gambling, this book is like having a personal coach, to guide, and help you through the rough spots. Jerry's integrity, and the integrity of his associates, have created a book that will withstand the test of time, and jealousy.

Summary: Practical information that actually works
Review: I have played Blackjack for many years. I have read several books and tried several "systems". The advice and thoughts shared in Casino Gambling make sense to me and actually work in live action. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book from cover to cover. Jerry Patterson, et al seem to be writing from actual experience rather than some theoretical understanding of the games. Many of the "experts" in this field do not actually play any more. It seems apparent that the authors actually play and use the advice given in this book. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants practical and useful information on Blackjack, or any of the other games mentioned.

Summary: Amazon is confused
Review: I looked at this listing and found that the description was for the "paperback" version. Well this book, "Casino Gambling: Winning Techniques for Craps, Roulette, Baccarat and Blackjack" (C)1982-3 is said to contain chapters with silliness like how to control dice and spot a roulette wheel. That description is NOT for this book! It is for a book called "Casino Gambling : A Winner's Guide to Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Baccarat, and Casino Poker" (C)2000. The newer book lists several authors. The added sections must be from the new authors and account for the lame "beat the system" advice. The 1983 book is very solid with excellent math and logic only! It tells you up front that you can't get an edge on a casino but shows you exactly what the house edge is on every single bet. This makes you an informed consumer at a casino. Such a book is refreshing in a sea of books about gaming that purport to give you a "secret" to gain riches. HA! The best you can do in a casino is either get up early and stop, (but you could also get down early) or play smart and loose small amounts slowly while enjoying the game and maybe some free drinks. If you want to learn to play casino games and want the straight info about the risks of each play, this book is perfect. If you want to hear a fairytale about how to "beat the house" look any ware else. PS this book IS paperback as well. ISBN: 039950656X

Summary: Exellent Book, Helped tremendously
Review: I read this book a week prior to going to Atlantic City, I really admired the advice and tips the book portrayed. It helped me fully understand the concepts as well as advantages to beating the casino. I have to say the weekend that I went to A.C. made me quite a bit of money. I do have to give credit where it is due and that credit should go to the author of this book who opened my eyes up to casino gambling.

Summary: Not an original thought in this book....
Review: I'm surprised the author can claim the ideas in this book as his own. Most of the tips are re-hashed ideas from experts in each of the individual casino games. Granted some of those ideas are good ones, they're just not new. If you want a book on roulette strategy, by a good book on it. Same goes for every other game covered in this book.

Summary: 5 star book on casino gambling
Review: I've been reading the books of Jerry Patterson for some 20 or so years. Over the years, he has consistently delivered fresh and unique approaches to casino gambling which have been very helpful to me. Casino Gambling is no exception. For example, "Winning Factors" for the multi-deck blackjack shoe games is something I can put into use right away.

I especially like the "getting an advantage" theme of the book which is prevalent in the blackjack, craps and roulette chapters. While I'm not a Craps player, the Advantage Craps System has me tempted to go looking for those long forgotten souvenir dice! And I like the fact that in this one book, I now have information I can use in playing any casino table game including casino poker games like Pai Gow and Let It Ride.

Chapter 2, entitled Mental Preparation, should (in my opinion), be read by anyone who ever places any type of wager. The advice given here alone, is worth the price of the book.

Highly recommended.

Summary: A Top Notch Book On Gambling
Review: In a revision of his 1983 book, Jerry Patterson offers professional and recreational gamblers alike a new perspective on the casino games of, blackjack, craps and roulette. In 21 chapters Casino Gambling dispels myths, crushes age old dogma, and enlightens new age gamblers of the true winning potential of the aformentioned games, as well as providing a no holds bared expose of many of the games offered by the casinos. Casino Gambling provides cutting edge methodology for all gamblers regardless of skill level. It is a technically complete yet easy read which can be understood by the rank amateur yet informative enough to provoke thought from the most experienced of gambling professionals. The methods outlined in it have helped me stay in front of the casinos for years. I feel the chapter on developing a winning attitude alone is well worth the cover price. A copy of this book belongs on the night stand or book shelf of every gambler out there, period. It is my opinion that this guide is destined to be a gambling classic.
