Summary: Disappointed
Review: After reading the reviews I expected more. I'm sure there are nuggets in the book and I will continue to work it into my practice. However, it's not very practical in its presentation. The CD appears to be an after thought and is never referred to in the book. Only a little index on the title page identifying the tracks. When explaining a specific mode scale it would be helpful to be directed to a specific track number on the CD. The tracks on the CD are short, canned and only the backing vamp. Since the essence of modes is the sound a sample of each mode played over the vamp would have been very helpful. I like books that instruct and inspire. Sorry but this was weak on both.

Summary: Outstanding!
Review: As a guitar student I have spent a great deal of time searching for a more complete and understandable explanation and approach to jazz guitar, both in terms of in-depth theory and a basic knowledge of scales, etc. Mr. Miller has acheived just this! I highly reccomend this book to ANYONE studying jazz guitar. I hope that the publisher sees fit to print more books by this author.

Summary: Well done!
Review: As Scott points out in the introduction, this book is a "resource of the most important chord/scale relationships found in jazz, jazz-fusion, and other contemporary styles of music." Scott lays out clearly how each scale or mode relates to specific chords, giving multiple fingerings on the guitar for each chord. This book is an incredible resource not only for those just learning about theory, jazz, jazz-fusion, etc., but also for those of us who need to "freshen up" on our modal and scalar knowledge. Well done!

Summary: Excellent Book, Very nice, Props to Scott Miller!
Review: First off I would like to give a shout out to my homie, Scott Miller, and second I would like to give a breif comment or two about his new book "Getting Into Jazz Fussion Guitar". When I first bought this book, I was slightly skeptical at first, but only because I was awe struck by the extreme concentration of knowledge and musical theory. The intricate pattern of scales, modes, intervals, and triads, is beautifuly displayed with clear instructions, un-crowded pages, and easy to use and understand information. For those of us who don't have dogs that can explain the difference between a BbMaj7+9/E chord, and the Phrygian Sub-dominant b9 scale, Scott Miller is our best bet.

Summary: Not fishy at all
Review: I dig this book. Sure, it is not light on the theory, but that is what I expected from a jazz or fusion book. I now have the scales, chords, and a play along CD to jam with in this package.
BTW, in the forward of this book it states the writer lives in Utah a has a teaching studio there. One Michael Seigal from New York claimed it was "fishy" that a few reviews came out of this state. To me it only makes sense that if the author teaches at a college and has a guitar school, that students would buy the book and review it. Actually more reviews are from other states than Utah. Check it out. Michael, do you want some cheese with your whine? And oh yeah, Michael, let us know when your book comes out so we can review it.

Summary: What more could you ask for?
Review: I found this book very informational and helpful in learning chord structure, scales, etc. The book starts off with the basics and continues on to more advanced techniques. It explains all of the theories along with providing tablature that helps to illustrate a point. It also comes with a play along CD which is helpful to solo with using the different modes illustrated in the book. I would deffinately reccomend this book to anyone who is interested in learning to solo.
