Summary: Wilderness~writings of a rock star/poet
Review: I have had the book Wilderness for many y ears now and I simply love it. Not only was Jim a rock star, but he was a magnificent poet. I have read some reviews where they said you had to be a drugged out loser in order to understand his poetry, which is so very NOT true. There are many different types of people who love Morrison's poetry, and you don't have to high to read it and understand where this man was coming from. It came from deep personal feelings. I find that amazing, when a person can share the happenenings surrounding his life with the rest of the world. Not too many people have this gift, and I admire Jim Morrison very much for sharing his life, music and beautiful words with us. I will cherish his writings for eternity.

Summary: Heartfelt Utterings from a Rebel
Review: I have read Wilderness and was quite moved by it. Not only is JDM a wonderful poet, but he is not afraid to go against tradition and write the way he truly feels. His poetry is deep and expresses many inner feelings we all have but are scared to reveal. In his poetry lies the seeds of greatness, rebellion and mystery. Some say Jim was pretentious, others a geniuis, one sure sign he knows what he is doing. Jim was a brilliant man to me because he wasn't afraid to take chances. I love his poetry and I think wherever there are people who are brave enough to express their true feelings, his work will live on. I love Jim Morrison, a truly great man and an angel. ---Death makes angels of us all and gives us wings where we once had shoulders smooth as raven's claw. JDM

Summary: Two Great Minds-a must read
Review: I just Had to say that Jim Morrison and Decheonbae Jones is just a like With great deep poetic talent This book had me on the edge of my seat-the constant turning of pages, and the art of self brillance. Simply putting it you have to get Pearls of Justice and Wilderness to even feel like you have a complete set of rare GEMS by men who saw life trully different and classic. I will be searching for books by both authors and will enjoy every minute as time go by!

Summary: Skeptic turned believer...
Review: I picked this book up with skepticism, poetry from a famous rocker, such a cliche. There are so many of them out there with poetry books. What surprised me is how deep his poetry is. It makes you think and actually try to get into his mind to find secret messages and trap doors. There are several previous comments that rate this book lower than 5 starts because it is hard to understand. Well, poetry is supposed to be hard to understand. It is supposed to make you think. For what other purpose would it exist?

Summary: Jim Morrison is the best!
Review: I think that this book, is the best of the books of Jim Morrison, because it's made with so much feelings. It will open your eyes about the real life of Jim Morrison. "Now is blessed the rest remembered" -Jim morrison-

Summary: I think I was once I think we were...
Review: I think this is a very good poetry book. There are several pages worth bookmarking. It is,in my opinion a very candid,in-depth look at what Morrison was feeling. He writes about his (short) life, fame, death,Pam & his youth. His self-interview in the beginning of the book says it all,as far as what poetry really,or is supposed to be or mean.I highly recommend this book.Pages:5,11,13,15,16,34,45,53,54(the best poem of all),58,61(second best),71,77,106,127,145,197(third best),199.The final pages consist of a section called:"As I Look Back".It vaguely sums up his life,as he saw it.

Summary: pretentious tripe
Review: I think what people find most appealing about this book is that it makes one feel as though poetry is easy to accomplish.

Summary: This is a must have if you love to be intrigued by poetry
Review: I'm not a huge fan of The Doors, but when my boyfriend gave me this book to read, my mind began to wonder. If you ever feel the need to think deep, read this book and you will. It's a great way to get anyone interested in poetry.

Summary: experimental verse
Review: In his prologue to this book, Jim Morrison expresses his belief that "real poetry doesn't say anything, it just ticks off the possibilities". So, this philosophy imbibes these poems. Unfortunately for us, that means many of his poems are hard to understand. But there are always some wonderful lines here and there, like exquisite flowers appearing among the weeds.

Summary: Don't dismiss "modern" poets!
Review: It seems to me that a lot of people who read poetry will only read poets that have been dead for at least 100 years (somehow this makes the poet more "credible"), and/or say that some "modern" poet is a drugged-out freak (Jim Carroll, for ex.). They forget that Rimbaud was considered an obnoxious drunk in his day and smoked marijuana too. I'm forgetting lots of other poets, too, so sue me. "Wilderness" is Vol. 1 of his two major books, and even if you don't really listen to The Doors, but you like poetry (not the kind of poetry you are forced to read in English class, though), then you'll love this book. Be prepared with home-made paper "bookmarks", you'll need them. All my poetry books are filled with them.
