Rating: Summary: Bass Teaching Book for Bass Pros Review: This book stinks. It takes for granted that you know certain things that most begginers don't know. Its also very small and doesn't even cover Scales. It didn't help me at all and got me frustrated. It tells you to do things but it doesn't tell you how to pull them off, like technique. Also it is a very "closed" book and doesn't offer any styles besides the norm. I definitely don't recommend.
Rating: Summary: A True Lifeline for the Beginner Review: This book takes everything you might fear in starting the bass guitar and explains it in the simplest terms possible. Whether you have studied music before or are a true beginner, this book will get you started quickly and easily. I would highly recommend this to anyone!
Rating: Summary: Very helpful for beginners. Review: This book teaches you the basics of bass playing. Simple and to the point, with lots of examples and a CD to practice along with. If you`re a beginner, you won`t regret buying it!
Rating: Summary: Excellent for beginners. Review: This is the method I use for my beginning students. It contains examples of building bass lines within the chord changes, and explains the theory behind it. It also explores a variety of styles, giving the student exercises to play along with an accompaniment track. The CD that comes with the book is an outstanding teaching aid for studying on your own, or as a supplement between private lessons. The only downside is that I have yet to find a follow up book by these same authors.
Rating: Summary: The Best! Review: Tried my hand at guitar by using different books, but that didn't go so well, and so when I decided that I wanted to learn bass I was sceptical about buying one of these books to learn from instead of lessons, however it was the best thing I ever did!!!! From all I understand the guy has helped create this works at the Guitar Institute in CA. Either way, this is a GREAT buy!
Rating: Summary: This Book is very good for beginning bass players like me. Review: When I first picked up my bass I thought I was never going to get past plugging it in. After reading and practicing Dales book I am now enjoying playing in a band. I still have a lot to learn but this book has given me a great start. Thanks Dale.
Rating: Summary: Great for the beginning bass player! Review: When I found Dale's book, I went home immediatly and popped in the cd. With the book layed out in front of me and my bass in my hands, it wasn't hard to begin playing the tablature. I found that I could follow along with the cd pretty easily and soon I was on my way to becoming a good bassist. I recommed this book to anyone who wants to start playing the bass. You won't regret it!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Starting Point Review: When our bass player quit I was asked to try the bass (I am an acoustic guitar player). This book taught enough skills so I was effective within a matter of 2 weeks of practice. Excellent book, especially the play along CD.
Rating: Summary: I bought this for my kid... Review: who wants to teach himself to play the Bass Guitar. I wasn't even interested, until I saw how easily it could be done with this book. Now, the kid gets mad at me when he catches me practicing on his Bass...
