Rating: Summary: Very funny but..... Review: I have liked Geogre Carlin's comedy since the beginning. His book had me laughing so much I thought I was going to die. However some parts of the book really disappointed me. Example: "F*** the middle class" He just said that in the book, not why or any reasoning at all. Second example he writes "Satan is cool" in bold print. Why is he cool? No reason. Why even bother to make a statement like that? Is that suppose to be funny? He does make some wonderful sense on some issues like the way we use words. Being from NY like Carlin I can appreciate his humor, however the book is flawed with these kind of statements. It's a good read with some diappointments.
Rating: Summary: Very thoughtful (not meaning nice; meaning mental activity) Review: Carlin's humor is tastless and offensive. :
Rating: Summary: Brain Dead Review: Carlin's humor is tasteless and offensive
Rating: Summary: I can't enter zero Review: Carlin is a zero, always has been, always will be. He has no talents except his big foul mouth.
Rating: Summary: MY BIBLE! THE MAN IS A GOD! Review: By far the funniest man on the planet, and the best book on the planet. I model my life after some of these sayings in the book. I absolutely love it!
Rating: Summary: Common-sense philososphy Review: While it made made laugh out loud about every third page, I think it a bit limiting to refer to this as a book of Comedy only. There is more truth in a lot of what Carlin says than possibly even he realizes, and certainly a great deal more than any of our so-called leaders spout forth on a regular basis. The negativity abounds, or at least what seems to be Negativity. Carlin shows that what is often considered bad or unkind, is, simply put, true. Unless you just can't stand swear words, read this book!
Rating: Summary: Classic Collection of Carlin's Comedic Hilarity Review: This is the definative Carlin. Here is the best of his comedy from his long career. This book really let's you see Carlin's true comedic genius. Even if you aren't a fan, you will be after reading this. Never boring, you'll be laughing your head off all the way to the nut house!
Rating: Summary: The Funniest Thing I've Ever Read Review: I picked up this book in a bookstore about a year and a half ago. I knew very little about George Carlin at the time, other than that he was in "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure" and some kiddie show. The very first moment I opened it, however, I almost literally cracked up. I was gasping for air, pounding the shelves, and getting dirty looks from everyone around me, but I didn't care. I never knew the written word could be so funny. It has been over a year since I bought it and I still at least glance at it nearly every day. Even bits I've read dozens of times before still make me laugh out loud. I just doesn't get any better than this. I'm waiting on pins and needles for the sequel. The book itself may have been thrown together rather quickly, but I'm sure the ideas it contains have been germinating and taking shape in Carlin's head for years. A lot of the language and politics related material is quite thought provoking provided you can stop laughing long enough to think. Frankly, I'm shocked there are so many people who seem to hate "Brain Droppings." I can see maybe if you are offended by the language (which is entirely possible), but saying the book is not funny at all just stupifies me. Carlin is a comedy genius and that's all there is to it. Buy this book!
Rating: Summary: Greatest book by the only true realist Review: Most see George Carlin as an extremely humorous comedian. After reading his book, not only do i see him as that, but also as the world's only true realist. He sees everything excactly how it really is. No BS. Some of the book has no real structure; but rather, is a collection of his thoughts. But that makes his book all the better. I've seen his live performances, and although they are great, he expresses a lot more about himself and his views in Brain Droppings. I recommend Brain Droppings for anyone who has an open mind and is not afraid to see reality for what it really is.
Rating: Summary: Funniest man alive Review: George Carlin has to be one of the most talented men alive. Not only does he make you laugh so hard you'll almost cry, but he also makes you think about the world around you. This book is a great example of Carlin's outstanding talent. If you have any sence of humor at all, this book is a must for you.
