Summary: The rantings of a grumpy old man
Review: I've always thought George Carlin was one of the most intelligent comics around and have always enjoyed his stand-up routines. His use of the English language is insightful. I thought his sitcom a few years back was a bad idea and showed him as a grumpy old man. Well, guess what? If this book is the real George, then he has become a grumpy old man. That's sad; he's been one of the great talents of our time.

Summary: The Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread
Review: This book is hands down the best comedic manifesto on God's green earth. True, George has gotten more mean-spirited with age; but it has to be expected, considering that very few, if any, of the issues he has attacked over the years have changed at all. Politics, language, and the world in general are still among Carlin's pet peeves. An excellent bathroom, waiting room, or just for fun book. Readable from any starting point: beginning, middle, end; the laughs are all there. I quote Travis Birkenstock: "Two very enthusiastic thumbs-up; fine holiday fun". :) All hail G.C.!

Summary: George is an Unhappy Camper
Review: I have been a George Carlin fan for years, but was extremely disappointed in "Brain Droppings". It is the most mean-spirited book I believe I have ever read. George's stand-up comedy has always shown how we can laugh at the absurdities of the world. In this book, he has turned it around and attempts to show how we should hate the world. In the recent trend of comedy "stars" writing these books of wit, this book was one I was definitely looking forward to reading. Instead I left with the feeling that George Carlin believes everybody (but him) should be "phased out". Well, if George writes another book, I'll phase out of the process of purchasing it.

Review: Easily offended? Just skip that page! Carlin supplies plenty of humor here for Everyone.
Not a book you have to read from cover to cover. Open it in the middle and get your mind ready for work. I took it with me everywhere - a great 'standing in line'- 'traffic at standstill' kinda book.
If nothing else, he makes your mind work - and synapses your everyday world into comic relief. He is a professional spectator of life and doesn't fear our critique of his critique. Buy it - You'll love those parts you can relate to and hate that he offended you as only Carlin can. When you finish it - leave it in the bathroom for your guests - it will help them understand why you are the way you are.

Summary: Linguistics master interjects four letter words for emphasis
Review: If your partner asks you to talk dirty, you can reach for this book, open to any page, read aloud, and provide satisfaction. Carlin thinks intimately about words, their relationship, and meaning. :-) His command of the English language is fascinating. He'd score a perfect 10 if only he had spent more time on line and commented on people who use smiley faces...

Review: As a long time fan of Carlin, I found the book very disappointing. He continuously crosses the line from funny to mean-spirited. Unfortunately, George Carlin has gotten old and grouchy.

Summary: This was the greatest book written. I laughed my ass off.
Review: Guys, I tell you: George is the greates comedian since the beggining of time. The book is like a Bible to me. I red it twice from the beggining to end, and I'm still having a ball every time I open it. It is not for the easily offended, but if you love George, you have to have his book. My favorite thing was "The Primitive Sergeant." I almost fell off a chair. So, there. I loved every moment I spent reading it. Recomend it to everybody

Summary: Only a 5: the sublime and the sub-average
Review: I had mixed emotions about this book. I've loved Carlin's work for years, so jumped at the chance to read this. Well, it's got some of his best old stuff, some good new stuff, and some profanity-riddled whining that was really annoying (more the whining than the profanity). Anyone familiar with Carlin's work expects some profanity, but it's usually part of some really funny stuff, like the routine on "Shit" from his AM/FM album. This isn't in the same league. Sorry, George.

Review: Agree with the main reviewer. Carlin should write more about the things dear to his heart. Politics, cultural concerns, life in current society, and do it with a little more exploration of his thoughts. His personal philosophy, if that's what the preface was, is quite interesting and probably that of a good many people who are afraid to state it so blatantly
