Review: While the subject matter of this book describes a gripping poverty that makes any heart sad, the writing faild to get to the point. The images didn't form a coherent message. Shocking pictures of babies in dirty rags and a useless father drinking is pubs while his family starves are stark, but where they go is unclear. McCourt has captured individual moments very well but dosen't develop a story.

Review: I really would not reccommend this book to anyone. Although I did read all of it, I had to force myself to keep reading. It really is not enjoyable or interesting.

Review: Frank McCort, this book was the best, Sad. I can't explain it. I didn't go back to work till the book was done. then it still took a few days. I can't apperciate a meal, or a warm place enough. It was like eating just after reading "Alive". i would sometimes just go to my kitchen and cook an egg or eat some soup. Frank come to my home and i'll get you some fish and chips. tis.

Review: I had never tried an audio book before. A friend loaned me her tape and I fell in love. Have tried other audios since and find them lacking.The author was perfect to read this book.

Review: I felt as if I were walking right behind Frank McCourt as I listened to him tell his story. I could see his life..if only I could have held him in my arms and told him it would all turn out fine. He would grow into a wonderful, gifted, loving man.
