Rating: Summary: Far and Away this is the BEST Review: I love to gamble in casinos. I have read 63 books thus far on casino gambling, some single game books and some, like this one, multiple games books. This is by far the best one I have read. It covers all the games, has great strategies, and profound insights into gambling and the gambler's mind. It's also loads of fun!
Rating: Summary: Without Peer! Review: This is the best gambling book ever written for strategies, psychology, and fun stories. It contains just about every game you'll find in the casinos. It has an extensive section on how to get comps that is realistic and will make/save you a lot of money! I've read about thirty gambling books and none compares with this one.
Rating: Summary: myths over facts Review: I was expecting a book that was at least mostly based on mathmatical principles. I am a fairly experienced gambler, and found many of the book's factual information to be wrong. The author seems to have a problem with Video poker, and tries to steer you away from it, I suppose because it's a difficult game. I particularly found the craps "strategy" laughable. To save you ten bucks, let me summarize: Play only the games with the best odds, (other than video poker) Play only a few hand/rounds/rolls, if you are ahead, leave the table, you are now a "guerrilla gambler". If you lose for the session, well... better luck next time.
Rating: Summary: valuable guide to playing Review: Scoblete is not highly regarded by serious gambling writers -- he's not a big numbers guy, for one thing, and he's done little ground breaking work on finding new things to do.However, if you're heading to Vegas for a few days, he has a lot of valuable, quick and dirty tips on getting the most value for your gambling dollar, using hit and run play, coupons, and the like. His chapter on comps is extremely valuable for the low-roller (let's face it, high rollers don't need to ask for comps -- they just get them), particularly on the foolishness of simply playing over one's means simply to get a comp worth maybe $20. Also an entertaining writer -- an awful lot of gambling writers aren't good writers, but Scoblete is, with a breezy, personable style and lots of good stories from the gambling trenches.
Rating: Summary: Best Gambling Book Ever Written Review: This book is the single best gambling book ever written. Not only does it explain just about every game the casino offers, giving expert strategies and tips, it also gives you insight into what it is really like to play in the casinos. Scoblete is a magnificent writer and this book is just tremendous.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: I learned so much from this book and I had a great time doing it. Scoblete is a great writer. The book is great.
Rating: Summary: The Beginning of A Gambler's Education Starts Here Review: Frank Scoblete is the best known and most honored of today's gambling writers. He understands all the games, has a firm grasp of the math behind the casinos' edges and thoroughly understands the proper strategies to employ for each and every casino game. This book should be the first gambling book you read as it explains in detail how the games are played, then goes into how the casino achieves its edge, and, finally, how to employ the correct strategy to either reduce that edge or get the edge for the player. Since this book covers every game, you might want to pursue other reading when you are done with it. I would recommend that blackjack players get Scoblete's "Best Blackjack" and "Knockout Blackjack" by Fuchs and Vancura; roulette players should get Scoblete's "Spin Roulette Gold"; Caribbean Stud, Three Card Poker and Let It Ride players would do well with Scoblete's excellent book "Bold Card Play"; slot players must read "Break the One-Armed Bandits" by Scoblete and "The Slot Answer Book" by John Growchowski; video poker players should get Scoblete's "Victory at Video Poker"; baccarat players will love Scoblete's "Baccarat Battle Book" and John May's "Baccarat for the Clueless." Craps players must read Scoblete's craps trilogy: "Beat the Craps Out of the Casinos," "The Captain's Craps Revolution," and "Forever Craps." I have in my library over fifty gambling books. I believe that "Guerrilla Gambling" is the best book ever written on the subject of casino games. However, Scoblete's followup books on individual games are often the best book in their individual categories with few exceptions. If you have never read a casino games book but you want a firm grounding in the games, Scoblete is the author to read. He is first rate and deserves his position at the top of the gambling hierarchy.
Rating: Summary: Exceptionally Well Written and Researched Book Review: "Guerrilla Gambling: How to Beat the Casinos at their Own Games" is a thorough examination of all aspects of casino play from table games to poker to slots, video poker and comps. The author does a great job of making what could have been a dull treatise into a thought-provoking and enjoyable work. I have read other books that attempt to cover the basic territory that this one does, but none of them matches "Guerrilla Gambling". This book certainly deserves the excellent reviews it has received on Amazon.com. I really enjoyed the author's personal reflections.
Rating: Summary: The Pinnacle Review: After reading Scott's "book" I was very leery of reading anything else in this field. But I bought Scoblete's book and I am happy that I did. This is the book that Scott's massive publicity machine really should have published. It gives strategies for all the games, many of these able to overcome the house edge. The sections on blackjack and craps were just magnificient as were the chapters on comps. I am so glad I read this book. Scoblete has reaffirmed my belief that not all gambling authors are self-aggrandizing merchants of garbage.
Rating: Summary: The #1 Gambling Book Ever Review: This book has great strategies for all the casino games. Some of these strategies can actually give the player an advantage over the house. Scoblete is a master writer who can make the hardest concepts understandable. His sections on comps and guerrilla play, his anecdotes about his own experiences, all give the reader a well-rounded view of the casino experience. This is a great book and a must-read for anyone who wants to know how to beat the casinos at their own games! Scoblete has no peer in writing about casinos.
