Rating: Summary: Well Written and Researched and Fun Review: This is the third book by Frank Scoblete that I have recently read. The book covers just about every game the casino offers with a few exceptions such as Spanish 21. The strategies are well thought out and based on solid mathematical principles. However, it is obvious that Scoblete has a wealth of hands-on experience as the book is loaded with his personal anecdotes and observations, often very funny and always very insightful. I do think that if you could only buy one gambling book, this would be it. The writing is so far superior to anything I've read by other authors in this field that it's like night and day. If you are a gambler looking to refine your game and also looking for a fun read, I think this book will do it for you. His section on a day in the life of a guerrilla gambler is one of the best diary type chapters I have ever read, it was exciting and gripping.
Rating: Summary: The Must Read Book on Gambling Review: This is the greatest book I ever read on casino gambling. It is divided into sections where the author explains the games, then writes how to beat it or, if you can't beat it, what the best strategies are to cut the house edge. There are great sections on how to get comps and how to understand the casino's marketing strategies against the players. There are also great first hand stories by the author.
Rating: Summary: The best and even better than that Review: Wow! Wowey wow! wow! This book is just the best of any I have ever read that deals with all the games! Get and you'll see!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Leaves Them All in the Dust Review: The fact that so many new books about gambling come out every year makes you think that each and every one has something new to offer. They don't. This book is the definitive book on general casino games. The rest didn't have to be written. In Guerrilla Gambling, Frank Scoblete explores the odds, the edges, and the psychology of gambling better than any writer who has ever lived. He is a masterful writer who really understands gambling, gamblers and human nature both in the casinos and out of the casinos. This book is the masterpiece that other reviewers said it was and I wished I had read it six years ago instead of wasting my money on every gambling book that came out. In my mind, Scoblete deserves his reputation as the finest gambling writer in the world.
Rating: Summary: Introduction to insight for several popular casino games Review: Grounded in a fundamental belief which challenges the popular marketing of casinos to the eager gambling populous (Ooh--losing IS fun!), Frank Scoblete uses common sense and the experience of some gambling friends to introduce and expound upon the most popular casino games of today. Inside are meaty sections on Roullette, Craps, Blackjack, Poker, video/slot machines and other, less ubiquitous casino gaming variations. Each game is introduced in adequate detail including table layouts, basic strategy, the kind of ambience surrounding a typical game, and some information concerning the odds. Games deemed statistically worth playing have 'guerrilla' playing strategy chapters wherein some winning strategies are posed. These tactics include ways of watching for a swing of the odds in your favor ('scanning' in Blackjack), or techniques for getting in on the action during a positive trend ('five-count' in craps, 'Big Numbers' in roullette). The book closes with a fun chapter covering 'a day in the life' which has the author and some cohorts enjoying Vegas during a day where many methods were used in action with non-sensationalistic, but positive, results. There's also a bit on money management, the guerrilla mindset, a glossary and other informative side bars. Many further reading suggestions throughout
Rating: Summary: Top Notch. No Other Substitutes Review: I usually dont like books that cover all the casino games in one volume, so I hesitated to read this one although I like Frank Scobletes writing. Boy, was I wrong! This book offers some of the best information I have ever read in a gambling book. Scoblete not only tells you how to play dozens of the most popular games in the casino, he also explains what your psychology should be when you play them. The last chapter of the book, called "A Day in the Life of a Guerrilla Gambler," is wonderful and would make a great movie. Scoblete honestly explores what it is like to gamble in a casino -- he makes you live it with him. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in casino gambling! Order it today. Rating: Summary: The Foundation for ALL Study Starts Here Review: Casino players looking to educate themselves in the various casino games need a book that is authoritative, comprehendable, and enjoyable. "Guerrilla Gambling" is the best book I have ever read that fits the above three criteria. I have read many books that try to cover the casino games. Some are quite good, for example "The Idiot's Guide to Casino Games" and the "Mensa Guide to Casino Games." But neither one can really hold a candle to Frank Scoblete's "Guerrilla Gambling." If you are looking to build a solid foundation in all the casino games and want to cut the house edge to the minimum and reduce the casino's take (these are not exactly the same concept as Scoblete explains), then you must get this book. The book also offers a very comprehensive look at the casino comping system and in that it is far better than other books that discuss the subject including "Frugal Gambler" and "Thrifty Gambling." Scoblete not only explores the math of comps but he thoroughly explores the psychology as well. I realize that I am but one of many reviewers who are praising this work but I had to add my voice to the chorus: This is the very best book ever written on casino games.
Rating: Summary: Best Gambling Book Ever Written Review: In my opinion this book is the one indispensable book to read before you go to a casino. I read it before I go to the casinos because it gets me thinking in the right way. Scoblete is a dynamic writer and probably the best gambling writer of all time. This book covers all the games and has some of the best strategies I have ever encountered. What really makes the book special arehis stories. I loved his last chapter "A Day In The Life of a Guerrilla Gambler" where he recounts his adventures on a single day in Las Vegas. You must get this book if you want to be prepared to take on the casinos.
Rating: Summary: Very good enjoyable book ¿ Now Get to Playin Review: This was a very Enjoyable Book. It provided important and useful concepts about the game of Poker and other gambling forms. I learned new concepts, which identified some leaks in my game. Leaks in your game can come from anywhere!!! Leaks can originate from lack of aggression, overcalling raises, misreading opponents and any other number of ways. So this book helps. Many people look at poker the wrong way. They think to win they need to do all of this super fancy plays and mindblowing stunts. Well folks...there are not that many options in poker...you fold, call or raise. So its really hard to do thinks that will just fool your opponents all the time. To win at poker it is mostly limiting your mistakes and getting all that you can from winning hands and minimizing losses on losing hands...that's it Ive been playing for about 5 years now and love the game. Ive read many poker books and found this one to be very good. So I would suggest you buy this book and maybe a couple others and get to playing. There's really no excuse anymore - since anyone can access the internet. If you are a new poker player and would like to start playing poker online at www.partypoker.com - make sure you use the bonus code: "AMAZON25" and you will receive $25 free on your first purchase at www.PartyPoker.com. You can also use the Bonus Code "AMAZON100" and you will receive a 20% bonus up to $100! If you already play at PartyPoker, you can also play at www.Pokerroom.com. Use the promotion code "100BONUS" and you will receive 20% up to $100
Rating: Summary: The Best Review: This is the best book on all the casino games that I have ever read. It is also a lot of fun to read as Scoblete is a great writer who keeps the pace moving. His great stories and insights are worth the price of the book alone! Get this, you won't be sorry.
