Rating: 5 stars
Summary: GREAT BOOK for crossword lovers
Review: If you love crosswords, get all of the NYTimes Crossword books.

Since Will Shortz has become editor, he has expanded the breadth of the puzzles so that there is a greater range of difficulty level. Monday puzzles are the easiest, and Saturdays are harder than ever.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Not as Hard as I'd Like
Review: This is a great book, but it's not quite hard enough. I live in Los Angeles and the LA Times crossword doesn't hold a candle to the NY Times for difficulty. I bought this book hoping for more of a challenge, but am finishing it way too fast. I'd have loved more puzzles with symbol/picture answers or answers where you have to squeeze an entire word into one box. There are a few of those here, but mostly straightforward puzzles. I think it's probably challenging enough for the average puzzler, but if you're a die-hard puzzle fan, you might be bored.

Summary: A great challenge.
Review: This volume, like its predecessors, I suppose, is filled with wonderfully challenging crossword puzzles from The New York Times. It's a great companion at the airport, waiting in the doctor's office, or at your state's Department of Motor Vehicles because you are completely absorbed with each puzzle.

Summary: A celebratiion of the history of the NY Times crossword.
Review: Volume 50 of The New York Times Daily Crosswords is a special commemorative edition, containing 100 puzzles instead of the usual 60.

The first 50 of these, selected from the best of The Times archives, were originally edited by Will Shortz's predecessors: Margaret Farrar, Will Weng and Eugene T. Maleska. The remaining 50 are more recent puzzles from the Shortz era.

Will has written an expanded Introduction, recounting the evolution of the New York Times daily crossword since its premiere in 1950.

The 50 "archive" puzzles, by 50 different creators, are presented in chronological order, with the date of original publication and some background information.

By working your way through this treasure trove of Times crosswords, you will discover first-hand how and why the New York Times has maintained and enhanced its position as America's "gold standard" in puzzledom.
