Summary: A Wonderful Life!
Review: I haven't even finished the book yet and I'm writing this! I love this book! How refreshing to read about a rock star that is: smart, talented, funny AND grateful for how lucky he's been. This book makes me wish I was an FOJ (Friend of Jimmy's)!

Summary: Mixed Bag
Review: This book was 420 pages and about 150 too many. The parts that dealt with his experiences trying to break into the music business were quite interesting. However the stories about his journeys in the Carribean, South America, and elsewhere all seem to be a blur. After a while, it all sounds the same. If you travel alot and/or have similar interests as Jimmy Buffett you might like this book very much. However, not being one who flies my own plane or visits the Carribean every winter, I could not make a full connection. At times, Jimmy's life sounds like a nice fantasy. But as he provides more detail, his audience seems to narrow. I wish Jimmy focused more on how his experiences influenced some of his songs. He does do it a little but I would have liked to know the history behind some more of his songs. I prefer Jimmy as a song-writer who writes four to five minute songs as opposed to his memoir writing which extends to 420 pages. Look for Tales From Margaritaville instead where the little stories are more focused.

Summary: Escapism Buffett-style
Review: I was greatly dissapointed to hear so many people who read this book criticizing Mr. Buffett for his fine autobiography. I did not buy this book expecting the next literary classic, Mr. Buffett simply wanted to share with his fans the joy of hitting the half way mark, and that he most certainly did. His imagery took me to places in my heart that I did not know exsisted and I long to visit those places some day. He made it clear in this book that he is not only dedicated to his family and friends but to his fans and to this place we call earth. Mr. Buffett worked hard to get where he is to day and we should commend, not condemn him for sharing his fascinating life with us. Thank you Mr. Buffett for such a wonderful escape into your world!

Summary: PIRATE LOOKING AT FIFTY IS HOPEFULLY LOOKING AT MORE WRITING
Review: This book is my absolute favorite book of any book that I've ever read! It provides insite into the past of the PARROTHEAD KING himself - JIMMY BUFFETT! This book is about how JIMMY BUFFETT celebrates his fiftieth birthday with a three-week trip around the Caribbean Sea with his family and some friends. In between his expeditions, JIMMY tells stories from when he was younger. He tells of his life with stories told to him by his family, and with experiences that he'll never forget . . . nor will you after reading this incredible book! Through this book, you'll learn about the real JIMMY BUFFETT, and what got him to the fame and popularity that will endure forever! He writes with unbelievable descriptions of the places that he's been to, and with a great amount of feeling. His incredible sense of humor is exemplified perfectly in this book and, you'll find yourself wishing you had the life of which he speaks. I highly recommend this book to adults who want to getaway from the humdrum of their ordinary and busy lives, and especially to PARROTHEADS! If you haven't read this book, you're missing out on one of the greatest mixes of autobiography and fiction (meaning the stories he tells) that will ever exist!

Summary: Follow a rock star and share his perspective at 50.
Review: This book is exactly what I expected, a 3 week journey with a rock star as he shares his life experiences and perspectives at the age of 50. This book is a great escape to the lower latitudes with someone that can share his experiences with down to earth attitude. Thanks Jimmy!

Summary: I found it incredible
Review: yeah I agree that Buffett did seem to feel the need to brag a litle but I did think the book was amazing. Un-lik what others have been saying I believe this book was an incredible book. I had no idea what an interesting and intriging life he has led. Just because you aren't rich enough or famous enough to be able to write books aobut your life that hit number 1 on the top seller list doesn't mean you need to critisize jimmy so harshley. You bought it you read it so don't wine aobut it afterward. If you couldn't tell from the first 200 pages that you liked it did you think you would in the next 300?

Summary: Boring, where are the pearls of wisdom?????
Review: I have always enjoyed Jimmy Buffet's music. Changes in Lattitudes Changes in Attitudes is one of the best albums I have ever purchased. His version of Biloxi is wonderful. I purchased this novel to learn more about the author of such great music, however after reading this book all I can say is boring. So you grew up Catholic, so you got divorced, so you can fly a plane, so what! Where are the inspirational aspects of your life that lead you to write these songs? Where are the contributions to society you have made? Please Jimmy stick to music, fly fishing, and your family.

Summary: Travels with Jimmy; ride along with Parrothead #1
Review: While not a literary work of art, this book is a good read for a beach vacation. Accompany Jimmy on his travels through the tropics as he comments on middle age, fishing, flying and having fun.

Summary: WELL...
Review: The first half of the book made sense. The rest is just a history and a daytrip of the Amazon and the Islands he flies over. He lands on a couple but sort of zips by them way too fast. If you want a much better description of the Amazon, read John Grisham's 'The Testament'. I really think he should've concentrated more on either doing a traveloge or a biography. This mixed bag gets annoying flipping between Central and South American history and his life. He should've gave us the bar stories of his life in music and on and off the stage or a really good story of his travels that made him into the man he is. Not a small combination of the two.
