Rating: Summary: If only my Latin classes had been this much fun. Review: I had no intentions of buying this book until I flipped through a few pages and saw too many funny things that seemed to make up for five painful semesters. Besides, I do love some good raunchy humor sometimes, and this is raunch for the way too educated part of my brain.
Rating: Summary: Don't bother Review: I was sorry I bought this book the minute I opened it. Henry Beard's other two Latin books ("Latin for All Occasions" and "Latin for Even More Occasions") were hilarious, but this one was a real disappointment. It's mostly just a lot of profanity translated into Latin...waaaaaay too much profanity. Maybe you'd enjoy it if you like off-color humor, but I just found it to be offensive and obnoxious. I recommend Beard's other two books, but don't bother with this one. My copy is headed for the county landfill.
Rating: Summary: Raunchy, yes, but I like it too. Review: Raunchy? Yes, but who's raunchier than the ancient Romans? Any book that includes a chapter entitled, "Small Talk during a Colonoscopy," can't be all bad. The book is basically chock full of modern one-liners in Latin. No longer the domain of doctors, lawyers, and botanists, now you too can interject clever Latin phrases into your everyday speech. This book is a riot! Hic nemo est quin Roman amet!

Rating: Summary: Let Your Steam Out in Latin Review: The book begins on the humorous side and then, as the title suggests, goes overboard and to the extreme in profanity. I don't know how much you'd actually get to use these expressions (a good deal of them may appeal to a really angry male who would feel some relief from screaming profanities) - but you may enjoy few giggles from more light-hearted and humorous expressions in this book.
