Rating: Summary: For Halloween, Oyster Boy decided to go as a human. Review: This book is amazing. I borrowed it from a friend, and I know I need to buy it. Tim Burton, who I'm admired for quite some time, has proven his genius. His wit is dry and twisted, but that's what's so special. This book has a range of emotions...All worth experiencing from Burton's point of view.
Rating: Summary: "Endless Laughter" Review: I was given this book as a gift. I have always been a fan of Tim Burton's film work, but after reading this book, it made me appreciate his quirky sense of humor even more! I still laugh my butt off ever time I read it! The stories and illustrations are AMAZING! A "MUST" FOR ANY TIM BURTON FAN!
Rating: Summary: Burton fan or not, this is fantastic Review: Funny, clever, original, charming, sweet, cynical, endearing, intriguing, fascinating, and purely wonderful. There are little poema and random thoughts with wonderfully charming illustrations This book fits every mood and, like his films, it transports you into another world and that is what reading is all about.
Rating: Summary: Great book for any Tim Burton fan Review: I first received a copy of this book in 1999 as a gift. I had always loved Tim Burton so this gift served as a great addition to any fan's collection. I enjoyed this book so much and actually recommended it to all my friends. This last Christmas, I actually bought it for a friend of mine and he in turn loved it. It contains dark humoured poetry accompanied by grotesquely lovable characters who you immediately care for. I recommend this book to anyone who loves their dark comedies and Tim Burton.

Rating: Summary: Written As a Children's Book, But Best For an Older Kid Review: I bought this handsome collection of short poems and stories by Tim Burton, not only because he is my most favorite director, but also because I was very interested in what his poetry and stories were like. Although "The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy and Other Stories" is written as a children's book, the content consists of some sexual, drug, and just plain macabre stuff. For example, in a couple poems, like "Robot Boy," a line goes, "He never forgave her unholy alliance: a sexual encounter with a kitchen appliance." Also, to tell you about the scarce yet present drug content, in the poem called, "Sue", the beginning is, "To avoid a lawsuit, we'll just call her Sue (or "that girl who likes to sniff lots of glue"). And lastly,to show you that macabre stuff is present, I can't recite a specific line because all of them contain some or lots of macabre. But if you truly love Tim Burton, then this book is a good thing to have. I like the poems in this collection- they are fun to read over and over, and a great addition to your bookshelf. I just suggest that you don't buy it for a child or an early reader- it is really for an older kid (like 12 and up) to adult. All in all, I enjoyed this book, and anyone who loves Tim Burton, likes macabre comedy, and can be mature to some very light adult content will enjoy having this book! P.S.- I loved "The Girl with Many Eyes"! (It was a clean and funny poem)! P.S.S.- Not all of the poems contain drug or sexual content!! In fact, most are clean and clever!
Rating: Summary: If you like Edward Gorey , you will probably like this! Review: This is a great collection of morbid, twisted little tales. If you are one for dark humour, this is for you. This is in the same vein as Gorey, though often not quite so dreary. Highly recommended in this genre. Brief but satisfying sick humour fun.
Rating: Summary: brilliance solidified and put into book form. Review: Hi. This book was a gift to me from a friend. and when i read the poem that the book is titled after, i cried. i probably cried the first six times i read it. i passed the book around to my friends, aquaintances, and enemies. and the funny thing is? all were moved by this book. This is a short "review," yes, but i feel that if i used too many words something would be lost from the book. god. its a humbling experience reading and letting yourself be changed by this magnum opus.
Rating: Summary: I am Oyster Boy Review: This book kicked so much ... its unbelievable. I originally bought it simply because it was by Tim Burton, then I read it, and fell in love. its charming, witty, and i'm going to marry that book and have its children.
