Summary: She taught me 60's politics and Italian at the same time!
Review: I first read Mafalda (this particular book in fact) when I lived in Italy for a year (she's very popular in Italy as well). I barely understood a word at first, but it was a great compliment to my italian lessons (I always read the book with a dictionary near by!) After a few months I'd put down the text book and take up Mafalda 101. I can't get enough of her. She's 60 in the body of a 6 year old..but she's still only six if you can understand what I mean. Susanita is my favorite after Mafalda. I can just imagine what her voice sounds like! I'm trying to collect all The Mafalda books (in italian) I can. I know it all began in Argentina and spanish is her native tongue, but I first fell for her in Italian and I can't imagine her speaking any other lauguage.

Summary: mafalda rocks
Review: i have found that reading mafalda is great for people learning spanish, if you don't understand what's being said, there it is, in the picture... on top of that, no matter how much you know about argentina and the world during her era, (ca. vietnam war et al) the humour's still relavent (however, the more you know, the funnier it gets)

mafalda inedita is great if you want a look into those times and the culture...

Summary: A necessity
Review: I know Mafalda from its days in the leftist Italian newspapers as a comic strip. Every strip told an important social truth. But you don't need to be political at all to love her and her varied friends.

Summary: Es una maravilla
Review: I think this book is essential to the home of every single spanish speaking american. Quino was way ahead of his time. Imagine Peanuts with a Doonesbury wrinkle throw in some Far Side and you start to get an idea of what Mafalda was all about. The kick was that it was written in the 60's and 70's. Unfortunately, many of the issues of that day are still far too relevant. For instance, there are many middle east strips that are as relevant today as they were then. This book features every single Mafalda strip and is a bargain at the asking price.

Summary: This is THE Mafalda book to own...the definitave treasury
Review: Just as the title of the book promises, this massive (almost 700 pages) volume contains the entire published archive of Mafalda comics (and many previously unpublished drawings). Published in several countries, the book I received from Amazon.Com was the Argentine edition. GET THIS BOOK!
