Review: I saw the guys post below...and decided to give it a try. It was intensly interesting how the book describes some of the tells that are typically displayed by poker players. It definately gives you an edge to know these types of tells. Everything about poker is "imperfect" information. this includes tells. It is similar to putting together a puzzle that builds a case for a certain decision. Tells are just another piece of the puzzle. Good Luck

Summary: Amazing insight for the novice player
Review: I thought I was a step or two beyond novice, until I read this book. I quickly realized how much I did not know about the game. Understanding the many "tells" of poker will add a lot of depth to your skills and give you much more confidence in your betting. This book is an easy read and the early 80's photos are amusing, but the information is priceless and easily absorbed.

Review: It is a little disturbing that this book was published in 2003 yet, the pictures are roughly 20-30 years old. Keep in mind, that things haven't changed too dramaticly over the years, but for the price I'd suggest buying a more specialized book on your game of poker. While his tips are accurate, there's nothing too spectacular here. Worth buying used.

Summary: Mike Caro - A pro you just have to love
Review: Mike Caro takes a different perspective on poker. This guy is really unique. If you have never researched any poker personalities...start with him...because he is impossible not to like.

For instance, when he sits down at a regular cash game...say 40-80 limit....the first thing he does is to take out a $100 bill and a match and burns the $100 bill to ashes while the other players at the table watch in astonishment. Now this shocks the whole table and instantly gives him an image of a loose playing maniac. He is then able to use this image to collect many more bets as he plays his regular tight game. No one notices that he is only playing 20% of his hands...they just remember that he was the nut that burned the $100. Funny Stuff.

Anyway...his book is Great. I play poker online so I did not get a lot of use out of it...but it is easy to read and then use when I do go play brick and mortar poker games. So I would reccommend you buy it....you could probably justify the cost with one sitting in a live poker game.

Summary: Definitly the best book out there on poker tells
Review: Poker tells are a very important part of the game and the pros have mastered them. Mike Caro is the best 5 card draw player alive. Some of the tells are more specific to 5 card draw. I think that you can become a masterful 5 card draw player with this book. This book comes in handy with other forms of poker as well. It definitly will make you think about some things the next time you play. One complaint I may have is there are no tells related to online play. Another thing that is just as if not more important then tells is betting patterns in my opinion. What will your opponent raise with from what positions. These are the things you need to be looking at constantly. But if you can spot a couple tells, in can save you some big bets as I have watched people call a bet before and inside im screaming "Your gonna get beat, he's not bluffing!" And I have known this from this book. So, buy the book, but it's not going to overwhelmingly help you. But it will definitly help you!
