Summary: More poor Adobe writing
Review: Adobe writers simply do not know their product, nor do the techs.
I find many errors, and agree with the review from Plano.

Summary: An Excellent Training Guide
Review: I found this book and it's accompaning CD to be be an excellent guide in helping me to learn how to use the software to its fullest potential. Prior to purchasing this book and CD, I was using the software for well over a month and half. Nevertheless, I learned something new in every chapter.

This book and CD is well worth the price. Users of all levels will benefit from the material presented in some or all of the 16 lessons. It is a must have for new users.

Summary: Wish I would of paid attention to the other reviews
Review: I'm extremely disappointed with LiveMotion 2.0 classroom in a book. I've had really great luck with other classroom books, but this one is terrible. I totally agree with all the other negative reviews of this book, don't buy it! A 10 year old could do a better job then the writers of this book did!

Summary: Riddled with errors
Review: I've only gone through Lesson 5 and part of Lesson 6 and I've found several errors. Some are omissions, some might have been product changes while the book was being published. The omissions are unforgivable. You cannot just click on one keyframe, drag the current-time marker to another place and then change Transform settings and expect something to happen. You need another keyframe. These omissions have occurred at least 5 times now in 21 pages.

I want my money back.

If you buy this book, you should have already dinked around with the program or you're SOL. Otherwise, you'll be quite PO'd. (If you don't know these abbreviations, ask a sailor or someone.)

Summary: Save your money.....................
Review: It's bad enough that the manuals Adobe ships with products are of little use but it's an absolute insult that you buy an after-market book which is published by Adobe only to find it too is riddled with mistakes, omissions, silly tututorials (not all) that have little to do with 'real world' web development situations.

I returned mine and got a refund so a big Thank You to AMEX for protecting their card holders.

Summary: Adobe Livemotion Classroom in a Book
Review: Livemotion is one of Adobe's latest additions to their range of tools for web development. It is a tool which can be used to create animations, sound, movies and other dynamic content for webpages.

Livemotion itself comes with a clear manual, of which an electronic version is easily accesible from within the application itself. However, like most manuals, I found that manual a bit boring and not very inspiring. Also, after reading all the possible ways to implement animations and sound, you don't know where to start.

From my experience, the Adobe classroom in a book series have always been a good introduction for Adobe's range of applications. I found that Livemotion Classroom in a book lives up to that expectation. By walking you through several exercises the book slowly builds your experience to work with the different tools. If you are familiar with other Adobe applications like Photoshop or Illustrator - which basically use the same layout for the tools and windows - you will probably find the first two chapters a bit slow. After that, it gets exciting fast. New to me were the 'Review Chapters' after every few chapters which summarise all the newly discovered gizmos in one huge exercise.

The classroom in a book is not intented to replace the manual. That means you will not find a complete listing of every feature availabe, with detailed descriptions of what the different settings will do. That information can be found in the manual, which can now be accessed in its entirety as an HTML document from within Livemotion. The book WILL offer you an interesting learning curve that uses exercises to teach you how the application works and how you can use the different tools for different effects. It does cover a lot of the various tools that are available.

A CDROM is included which contains all the finished exercises and review chapters so you can compare your own creations to those created by the authors. Other than that, there's nothing on the CDROM - a missed opportunity in my opinion. With hundreds of megabytes available, that space should have been used for extra graphics, actions or other content that would have given the book just that little extra value for money. If you want to buy to book to find out if Livemotion is worth spending your money on, you will still have to download a trial version from Adobe's website - it could easily have been included on the CDROM.

Summarised: a good book to find out what to do with Livemotion in a fun, quick and easy way. Not a replacement for the manual, nor intended as one.

Summary: Live Motion - Classroom in a book
Review: Not bad, all in all. Still...this series has a habit of pointing you back to the book that came with the product. But for those familiar with other Adobe software, or with this book series, will find this book to be quite useful.

Summary: More poor Adobe writing
Review: Some books go on and on about the basics of a program while others get extremely technical very quickly. The 'Adobe LiveMotion Classroom In A Book' is a perfect balance of these two techniques. Each lesson introduces you to different tools and their applications, gradually getting deeper into LiveMotion's amazing abilities. The lessons also encourage you to experiment, giving you even more experience and knowledge. This is definitely a great book for any owner of Adobe's LiveMotion!

It's a book that gives beginners to Adobe products a good idea how the tools are used (tools that are pretty universal in all Adobe products) while allowing those experienced with items in the Adobe line of programs a chance to get right into learning the program!
