Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Nice, but inferior to the one on FF7 Review: This book is helpful, though I really miss the layout of the FF7 guide. Why did they put all the maps in the back ? I'm also one of those who like looking ahead and reading the plot, so I missed out in this book. :) Plus, this isn't a big deal, but, I was a little disappointed in the character pages. However, I got a free poster with my FF8 guide, so I won't be too picky. :)
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: All most perfect. Review: Final Fantasy VIII: Official Strategy Guide by David Cassady is a great book. It contains lots of info on items,GFs, weapons, magic, side quests, secerts, bosses, and the card game. It also has all the maps, but it's hard to find the one you want. The book spoils the plot a little, but not much. Final Fantasy 8 was great, and it need a great book like this to help you through it. I hope David Cassady works on other games such as Final Fantasy 9.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: A great book for anyone who wants the best for FF8. Review: A great book to teach you all the techniques and strategies of Final Fantasy VIII. That's All Folks!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: This is an excellant guide throughout Final Fantasy VIII Review: This is a great guide that tells you EVERYTHING you need to know. Also a great source to learn about all the good cards and where to get them. Without this guide I couldn't get anywhere and now I know exactly what to do and I am great at it!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: good books, good games. enough said. Review: being the only fifteen-year-old girl around this puny part of the country who likes this kind of stuff, i know a good game when i see it. and final fantasy VIII is a fabulous game. good graphics, good plot, etc. and though i have yet to own this book, i do own at least two other strategy guides by david cassady. they've helped me through some tough games. if the strategy guide is half as good as the game, then i can't WAIT to get it!
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Enh. I'm torn. Review: This is a good book if you don't want _too_ much revealed in any one place about the game. On the other hand, the layout can be tricky, and occasionally you will find yourself needlessly flipping back and forth to find out important information. If you want to find out what secrets you may be missing, for instance, you need to jump to the back of the book to look for the "Secrets" section. Otherwise it's just a walkthrough for the already pretty linear gameplay.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Once again, Brady's proven it knows zero about game guides.. Review: At first glance this guide appears to be great. Lots of information, item locations (sort of), info about the Guardian Forces, etc... However, once you get into playing the game, you realize what a terrible book this truly is. The item placement is not always correct, and even worse is that the maps are all in the back of the book! Now, this wouldn't be a huge problem if Brady had gone a little bit farther and included at least page numbers, but that couldn't be done either. Another problem I had with the book was the one thing that Brady always has, and always will, have; they give plot spoilers continuously! Be careful about reading this book, because Brady does not understand the concept of "give hints, not story." So, if you'd like to know the plot without playing the game, the Bradygames Final Fantasy 8 guide is a great novel.. but as a game guide, it isn't even average. Avoid at all costs.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Excellent guide.... but not perfect Review: Being a fan of Cassady's FFVII guide, I expected most of the same from this guide. And basically, I got it. However, a few things still seemed to make this guide seem incomplete. Again, much like the FFVII PC guide, they decided to stick all the maps in the back. In most cases (or as far as I've gotten in the game so far, its only been out for 3 days you know) this doesn't matter because the maps are straight forward. However, with a few areas, its really inconvienient to flip to the back of the book. Another thing I was worried about was how, like the FFVII Playstation guide, the side quests were put in the back! Luckily, unlike that time, the guide does a better job of mentioning these quests in the walkthrough, so you don't completely miss them. Overall, an incredible guide! You shouldn't need much else to fully enjoy the game.

I'm glad to see you back again.Due to feedback from consumers such as you we've made lot of changes to the format of the FF8 guide. Information should be a lot easier to find and you shouldn't find a single plot spoiler anywhere in the walkthrough. Also you'll find that we've tried to make the guide even more complete. There are huge item lists that help you with refining. A large magic list that gives you the specifics on how junctioning the various spells to different stats effects your character. A gigantic bestiary with about every imaginable bit of information included. There's information on the Triple Triad card game and how to get all of the rare cards. A long section of hidden sub quests and cool things you can find. Lots of information on every GF in the game, including their abilities and stats. Draw Points mapped out on the World Map as well as the various towns and dungeons. And what FF8 guide would be complete without lots of exclusive artwork. All in all everything we could cram into 272 pages. I hope you'll enjoy this guide. It's my goal to make sure our guide is as complete as possible, easy to use, and a true enhancement of the game. Please send us feedback on what you'd like to see done differently on future books or what you thought was done well at You can also check our sight for any updates to the book or additional information.
