Rating: Summary: This book was awesome! Review: Like before, Garfield has once again stole the show. In his first book, Garfield is awesome!
Rating: Summary: GARFIELD IS FOR THE KID IN ALL OF US Review: On June 19, 2001 Garfield celebrated his twenty-third birthday, sleeping away the special occasion. I have been an avid fan and follower of Garfield since his birth, and I would not miss a day without first turning to the comic page of the newspaper to see what this loveable, huggable critter was up to. He has cheered me up through family deaths and tragedies, the joys and tribulations of motherhood, a marriage break-up, a re-marriage, the births and deaths of several of my own cats, and still remains one of life's treasured, light-hearted moments.Like all Garfield books, each one is just as enjoyable and comical as the last. This one is no exception. What more can one possibly say about this feline wonder, or the book. Garfield is laughable, loveable, zany and his antics can often "make my day." Buy the book, it will warm your heart and bring laughter to your soul...definitely a five-star plus!
Rating: Summary: Big Belly Laughs. Classic Garfield. Review: One of the best collections before Garfield became a household name and an icon stuck on car windows. The gags have a freshness that is lacking in recent work. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: One of the Best Garfield books Ever! Review: The fat Tabby Cat has really done it this time! Now in full color; Garfield is even better than in black and white. Weather he is kicking Odie, abusing Jon, eating the mailman, going on a diet or pursuiting lasagna, he is always the funniest cat around!
Rating: Summary: Clone Jim Davis!! Review: This book review is in honor of my big brother, Jeff Tibbitt. We grew up together on Garfield books, and I hope that someday my children will also enjoy them.
Rating: Summary: Very Funny! Review: This book was very funny. I think this book deserves 5 stars
Rating: Summary: First collection of Garfield strips Review: This collection runs from June 1978 to January 1979. Highlights include: Garfield himself! Though he's really fat compared to later years, the Garfield traits, wit, and bad luck have already come in.
Rating: Summary: Back then... Review: When "Garfield" first came along, it was an overnight success. These early strips show why, as they possess a freshness and vitality that has necessarily diminished over 20 gruelling years. Here we see the drawing style first evolve too. It's easy to write off "Garfield" as merely trite, or just for kids, but in many ways he holds up better in book form than in a tiny daily dose; for hiding behind the simple fat and Monday jokes is a keen sense of the absurd that is best enjoyed with cumulative effect.
Rating: Summary: Garfield On The Cutting Edge Review: When Garfield first came out, the strip had a cynical bite to it which has diminished considerably over the past twenty years and 35 books. The first three books in the series are a lot funnier than the rest. This is the best of them. If you are just starting with Garfield, start here and work foreward. It is fascinating to see the evolution of the comic page's favorite fat cat from the start rather than to read the repetitive later books. I think that Jim Davis needs to do a Doonesbury or a Calvin And Hobbes now and take a break.
