Rating: Summary: I just loved this book Review: Another addition to my Get Fuzzy collection. These are books I am sure I will read over and over again. This (and the other get fuzzy books) are perfect for people who love dogs and cats. :D
Rating: Summary: Excellent comic Review: Darby conely (may have spelled this wrong) is one of the most promising comic arisits since bill waterson of calvin and hobbes. his work is touching, yet hilarious, incredibly well drawn, and fun to read. This book, as the second treasury, is the best collection of his work so far. It includes colour sunday strips, and over 200 pages of side-splitting daily comics. it is surely a book to have on your shelf. I also recomend "Groovitude," the previous get fuzzy treasuery.
Rating: Summary: Brilliance In Our Midst Review: Darby Conley is the one voice of brilliance on the comics page. And something this good only comes along once a decade--if we're lucky. The intelligence, the humor, the twisted cat! Bucky Hour, when Bucky conducts strange rituals in the middle of the night while his owner is sleeping, is one of the most lovely inventions out there.
Part of what makes Get Fuzzy a must have for any book case or bathroom side table is the author's willingness to go into strange places. Witness, for instance, his focus not long ago on beavers as being harbingers of evil, especially the Oregon State University mascot Benny Beaver.
It's clear that Conley is clued into popular culture, and has sensitive antennae, but at the same time, is pulling material out of his own personal private world to share with us. This is the perfect gift for someone who's more cynical and intelligent than the average comics page reader and might not know about Get Fuzzy--or might not even read a newspaper.
Rating: Summary: FUNNY, FUNNY ANIMALS Review: Funny animals have been a staple in the comic strips for decades going back to strips like Krazy Kat and even Mickey Mouse. It seems these days there are fewer and fewer funny animal strips as family strips like Foxtrot or Crankshaft or Far Side wannabees seem to rule the comic strip sections these days.
If you're like me you just don't have time to read the funnies everyday so treasuries like this are simply invaluable. Yes they're reprints but isn't that fairly well implied? This treasury features many one panel strips as well as longer, continuing storylines with good ol' Bucky. It's fairly sarcastic and irreverant, much moreso than say Garfield. Conley's cartooning style is still a bit unpolished if you ask me, but in a way it fits this strip very well.
Rating: Summary: AWESOME! Review: Get Fuzzy is the best comic strip ever. This is the best book yet. BUY THIS BOOK!
Rating: Summary: Get Fuzzy features the world's meanest cat. Review: Get Fuzzy is the best comic strip I've ever read and I am addicted to it. Darby Conley's books are flying off shelves very fast. My favorite Get Fuzzy books is The Get Fuzzy Experience and Blueprint for disaster so this new treasury is ausome. I reccomend Bucky Katt's Big Book of Fun to anyone who is interested in a mean cat, a sympathetic dog, and a human who lives with them.
Rating: Summary: Sorry about the confusion Review: get fuzzy is the greatest comic stript that is not the greatest. the coolicity factor of this book is high
Rating: Summary: Great!...but... Review: Great, Funny, Awesome, The Best, but DON'T buy their 'combination' set with Blueprint For Disaster, Amazon.com really screwing people over with that one. Very disapointed in Amazon.com for that, but gave the book itself a 5 star, cause you have to love Get Fuzzy!
Rating: Summary: Get Fuzzy: Simply The Best Strip Currently Running Review: I have loved 'Get Fuzzy' from the first time I saw it. This is a compilation of some of Darby Conley's best strips; they are a joy to read and bring laughter into a frazzled day. The interaction of Rob, Satchel, and Bucky is a national treasure. I particularly appreciate the tone of the strip in addressing social ills without being preachy, while still honoring the good things in America. Particularly noteworthy is the honor Mr. Conley bestows on the NYPD, EMS, and fire fighters throughout his strips, particularly post-9/11. I also appreciate his sensitivity in honoring the passing of truly significant people such as Douglas Adams (the '42' strip is wonderful), and Fred Rogers. This is one of the most entertaining books on my bookshelf, and I treasure it. I could not recommend a book of comic strips more highly. Buy it: it'll make your day!
Rating: Summary: Compilation book. Review: I wish I'd known in advance that this is a compilation of the last two compilation books--The Get Fuzzy Experience and Blueprint for Disaster, both of which I already own! That being said, if you haven't read these already, they are hilarious, as all of the Get Fuzzy books are.
