Rating: Summary: A Story of Strength and Courage Review: A truly incredible story of Tina (Anna Mae) and her fight through life as a child - teenager - an Ike's prisoner. A triumphant story of core strength and personal integrity. Throughout it all, Tina never gives up her true "self" until it's time for her to blossom. If anyone needs a boost in their own life, please read this book. If you're like me, my life is easy compared to Tina's story!!!
Rating: Summary: Tina... you are one tough woman! Review: After all these years, her story still rocks me to the bone. This is one great re-tell of her marriage with Ike, and her struggles in the music industry while being a wife and mother with her kids. Her determination to really keep herself alive and vibrant is inspiring as she discovers life's lesson's through the abuse of her husband. Her discovery of buddhism really moved me, and she is just one tough woman.
Rating: Summary: This must be the greatest book ever! Review: As a huge Tina fan I think this is the greatest book ever! It's both sad and happy: sometimes you cry, sometimes you laugh. Tina tells about her childhood, her nightmare marriage with Ike and how she became the greatest singer ever. GREAT!!!!!!! EVERYONE SHOULD READ IT! I've read it twice...and I'm going to read it at least dozens of times in the future!
Rating: Summary: A true survivor - and a great talent Review: Give Ike Turner credit for playing on what is arguably the first rock'n'roll record ever (JACKIE BRENSTON's Rocket 88). And give him credit for recognizing the talent in Miss Anna Mae Bullock. Beyond that, he is a super control freak and an intense abuser. Shining through despite the control and abuse was Tina's gritty vocals and amazing passion. Any of their recordings on Sue (1960-1962) are pure works of r & b art. And, of course, with the handiwork of producer Phil Spector, created what George Harrison once called a "perfect" recording - the oft-covered "River Deep, Mountain High". The casual music listener may have "discovered" Tina in the late 60s, with "covers" like "Proud Mary" or her later solo smashes. Regardless of where you came in on her career, you should read this book to see what she had to endure and overcome. Highly recommended !

Rating: Summary: Give me a Break Review: Give me a break. This wasn't about spiritual healing of the mind or spirit, it was about money. It was a very well-thought out publicity stunt and Tina should be proud.
Rating: Summary: Simply The Best Review: Growing up Tina has been since I the age of 2. With this book I learned all about the "Queen of Rock & Roll" She is "Simply The Best"
Rating: Summary: Tina is a Rock and Roll Buddhist Goddess Review: I found this book after reading an interview with Tina Turner in Enlgand in which she discussed her life and the Buddhist practice she credits with helping turning her life around, Soka Gakkai. This book is the most inspirational life-story of a living person I've ever read!I've since re-read this book a few times, as well as other books that are related to the Buddhism she mentions in the text. At first, it was hard for me to believe someone like Tina could also be a Buddhist, but now that I've read more about it I completely understand. I'm so glad Tina mentioned in the interview about Daisaku Ikeda, the leader of Soka Gakkai and a prolific Buddhist author as well. I also found a wonderful book about this Buddhism at Amazon which I highly recommend - it's called "The Buddha in Daily Life" by Richard Causton. Tina is the greatest! A true rock and roll Buddhist Goddess! Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, Nam-myoho-renge-kyo, Nam-myoho-renge-kyo...
