Summary: Courtney Love: The Real Story
Review: I bought this book for 2 reasons; the first was because I wanted to know more about Courtney Love, and the second, and more dominant reason because I needed information for a project on her. This book amazed me, from the very start. poppy Z. Brite is very frank and honest in most places, although at times i find that some of the stories are a tiny bit dubious. However, she says herself that her reason for writing is not to defend or condemn her, simple to accurately as possible, chronicle Courtney's life. This she does. Courtney Love is an amazing woman and I find this book extremely heart wrenching in places, and it shows the pathetic excuse for a father that she had. Most of all, the whole Kurt Cobain section, easily shows that she loved him, and in no way, was part of his death. Even Kurt's mother said that if it had not been for her, he would have killed himself years before. This book is fantastic and has turned me into one of the biggest Courtney Love fans I have ever met (does that make sense?). Anyway, it's amazing, buy it. I got an A on the project. Anyone who thinks that Courtney killed Kurt, see his memorial... if you still think she killed him, you have no idea.

Summary: Don't buy this
Review: This is the worst book I have ever read. It is a disgrace to literature. People don't care about Courtenay Love. Sorry, Courtney, but no. Nice try.

Summary: er, the Real Story
Review: i would like to say courtney isn't fooling anyone with her pathetic coverup attempts, but she is. Courtney distorts information, misinforms, and lies outright to cover herself. however, i will give it 5 stars because it helps kurts murder case a great deal. Courtney asked Brite to write this book, just like she asked melissa rossi to write the last courtney bio. her reason was clear: she wanted to distort facts surrounding several important events. A notable example from this book... Courtney tells brite that Jackie, the female nanny, went to rome with courtney, right before kurts coma. however, in rossi's book the nanny was male, and in the rolling stone cobain book(94), they confirm that the nanny was michael "cali" dewitt. why would she change this? because dewitt and courtney are responsible for the murder attempt in rome, and they are both main suspects in kurt's murder.

Summary: Kill Rock Stars
Review: I believe it takes a massive narcissi to be a rock star. Every Hollywood folk (save Eric from Hole) mentioned in this book is a self-destructing ego-maniac fighting for the throne when their and other rock stars' worlds collide. Even poor Frances has an unhealthy ego. It's an endless cycle of abuse partaking on everyone's half. The opening pages reveal that the author, Brite, and the subject are friends and foreshadows the whole one-sidedness of this bleak story. Brite, when intoxicated, even half persuades you that ol' Courtney isn't as bad as she is depicted. This book makes you want to kill every rock star, especially the ones that have ever befriended Courtney. Ugh. Sadly enough, I get off on this trash. It was also a good and fast read, how inaccurate it may be.

Summary: Very interesting, very good book!
Review: I thought this book was great! It was very interesting and I learned a lot of things I didn't know about Courtney Love/Hole/Nirvana. I couldn't put it down and finished it a few hours after I got it. It doesn't try to defend Courtney but just states the facts. If you are a fan of Courtney or Hole this is a book for you.

Summary: Angriest Girl in the World
Review: Bravo, to Miss Brite for setting the record straight! This book is a wonderfully descriptive portait of Courtney Love's life.It begins with her messy childhood, her problematic teens, her break into music, her marriage, her child,up until the release of CELEBRITY SKIN in 1998. This book will change the way you fell about Miss Love, because it acuratley retells her tales of woe, and gives proof that she is a loving person, and NOT a cold blooded killer. I promise this book will make you feel guilty about any Courtney Love jokes you've made in the past.

Summary: True Story Yet To Come
Review: Candy-coated fantasy about the life and times of Courtney Love, possibly intended as a make-over for her new public image as actor/model, attempting to dilute or dissolve the truth and rumors of her earlier life in sex, drugs, and rock and roll. The story seems bent on blaming others for the live she leads. Compare the writing style of this book with any other Brite books, brilliantly written horror fiction. Also compare it to the ranting of the Queen of Noise herself. Brite has such a command of the language, is it even possible that this book was penned by none other than Courtney Love herself? The book is filled with checkable errors.

For a more accurate portrayal of Ms. Love, see Melissa Rossi's "Courtney Love: Queen of Noise." However, for a more critical treatment of the end of Kurt's life, read "Who Killed Kurt Cobain: The Mysterious Death of an Icon" by Wallace/Halperin. And for a personal glimpse of Ms. Love, as seen through the eyes of a contemporary and loosely wrapped in fiction, read Michael Hornburg's novel, "Bong Water."

Poppy Brite, shame on you for allowing your reputable name on this piece of trash! Is somebody sucking your blood?

Summary: You can only rate this book in one way:The only REAL STORY!
Review: My whole family agrees with me... I have this book MEMORIZED... THAT'S HOW GOOD IT IS! The true life of it just makes you wanna be a rock star... And Brite doesn't take sides... she keeps it all straight. She TELLS you the pain that Love Courtney Michelle Harrison Rodriguez Menely Cobain felt as a child and felt about Kurt and felt about life. It's the best one out there... TRUST ME. If you don't believe me...e-mail me.
