Summary: A great book for patients and caregivers
Review: Most of us know the plight of Carnie Wilson's weight. Now she has finally written the book we all have been waiting for. Her book tells about her successful journey, warts and all. As a mental health counselor, I applaud her and Spotlight Health with presenting a most informative book which includes interviews with both a bariatric surgeon, nutritionist, endocrinologist and psychologist. Some people see gastric bypass as an easy way out to loose weight. Believe me, as a patient, it is not. She avidly describes this and how life will change for the patient and their loved ones. I greatly appreciate the important emphasis on the psychological aspects. They go hand in hand. Also, this book gives your support and caregivers an idea of what you will be going to go through and how they can better support you. I would like to see every doctor, patient, and candidate for surgery to read her book before either making the decision for surgery or as a guideline for post-op conditions that may come up. It is even indexed for ease of looking up something. A trendsetting book and a wonderful read .

Review: Once again, another hit for fat people and the 'wonder' of weight loss surgery. I am disappointed in the book, and the person for the obvious mutulation of a healthy and functioning stomach. Contrary to popular belief, and propganda (what this book is) for WLS, its a dangerous and overglamorized procedure, further 'glamorized' by Carnie Wilson.

Review: Reading Carnie Wilson's book was like reading her own personal journal. She gives discriptions of how she felt towards herself as a child, all the way through adulthood.
I could identify with everything she was saying in her story.
I got this book because I am considering having the gastric bypass surgery done. Carnie describes what her diet was like after the surgery and what pain she felt. It was a good tool in helping make a decision about having the surgery done and what to expect before, during & after. The only thing I didn't care for about the book was the large amount of offensive language. I felt that it was unnessasary and tasteless on her part.

Summary: Carnie's Story of Weight Loss Surgery
Review: The beginning of the book was a little slow, perhaps too much information regarding her personal life, family issues and such. However, after about a third through, things really picked up and then I couldn't put it down until I had finished reading it. She is refreshingly honest. The pictures were great of before and after. Interestingly enough, outside of the cover picture, my favorite picture is of "her future husband" the day they met, and the look in his eyes as he looks towards her. The fact that he is completely oblivious to the camera, is so revealing of his feelings about her, considering she was at her highest weight. It is wonderful that she met someone before her surgery, that came to love her unconditionally. Reading her story was quite informative of the personal aspects of this issue. The profanity was unnecessary.

Review: The instant I got this book, I began to read it, and I finished it in less than a day. This is a great autobiography because she doesn't really censor or edit, and that's what I loved about it! It's a great read!! look into it!

Review: This book is just utterly and completely amazing. What an extraordinary journey this woman has had with her battle to feel and look beautiful. I think Carnie Wilson did a fantastic job and hopefully she will continue writing uplifting books. She is undoubtably motivational and speaks from the heart. I would recommend this book to anyone.

Review: This book was a good account of Carnie's journey. It really needed to be edited. Some may argue that editing would take away from the 'real Carnie' that was so 'in your face', but I think that she could have gotten her point across in fewer words. The pictures were great and I have a great respect for her courage. Thanks to Carnie for sharing.

Review: This book was right on the mark. It helped me make my desicion on this surgery. It was an inspiration to me. I could not put it down I read it in less than a week. It was also very helpful to have the question and in the appendix and have them answered by professionals in that field.
