Summary: Combat, must read
Review: Each time I sit down to watch an episode I read about it before hand in the guide book, and then check it off. My goal is to have them all checked off. Greatly improves viewing pleasure to have Jo Davidsmeyer's background info on each episode. You would not catch certain things unless she pointed them out. Take the point !

Summary: OUR GUYS
Review: For Combat! fans, Jo has written a must-have book. Every aspect of the actors' skill is there, the drama found in each episode is brought to life. No detail is too small for her attention. Her research is extensive.

When the squad moves out on yet another patrol Sgt. Saunders will check his orders, get a quick OK from Lt. Hanley and looks up to make sure Jo is ready to go. She is a valued member who has earned her place along side of Doc, Kirby, Caje and Littlejohn.

Summary: A must for Combat fans!
Review: I ordered (through Amazon) and received my autographed copy of this book, directly from the author, to accompany the recently released DVD sets of this great TV series. First of all, the prompt service from Jo Davidsmeyer, the author, was superb--I was not disappointed in the least. The book, a viewer's companion to the WWII series, is well put together and enhances the enjoyment of the DVDs. There is a great deal of information including short reviews of each of the 152 episodes of the show and info about the order that they originally aired on TV. In addition, there are insights into each character and the actors that portrayed them. There are bits of trivia, including some of the background to the decisions leading to casting, directing, locations, costumes, guest stars, and the reasons for the episodes that resulted. It reviews some of the conflict among stars, directors, producers and others responsible for the final product. It is a comprehensive overview of this historic series, the longest-running WWII series ever on TV, including interviews and comments from some of the regular cast members.

I have waited for years for Combat to make the video/DVD scene, and now that it is here, this book helps to make it even more enjoyable. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to any fan of the program. Jo Davidsmeyer has made this series one of her life's ambitions, among many others it seems, and she has done her homework.

Combat ran for five seasons from 1962 through 1967 and hosted many current and future stars. Lee Marvin, Mickey Rooney, Tom Skerritt, Sal Mineo, Eddie Albert, and Frankie Avalon are just a few. The book includes some interesting little bits of info on bloopers. There are hundreds of photos and the text is very user-friendly. As Ms Davidsmeyer would say, "Take the Point", and give this a try. I'd be surprised if you are sorry.

Summary: No fan should be without a copy
Review: I recently bought season 1 - campaign 1 from Amazon and to my delight the show was just as brilliant as I remembered it as a kid. It was my favourite show when I was growing up in Australia, but when it went off the air here in the 1970's, alas it never returned.

Jo Davidmeyer's book is a great read & each time I watch an episode I read the review afterwards & it certainly adds to the experience. Its packed full of info, bloopers, photos, stories & quotes from the actors and directors.

The author has a keen sense of humour and is passionate about the show and the actors and no fan of the show should be without this wonderful book.

Summary: Wow! A must-have for COMBAT! fans!
Review: Indispensable to keep by the TV stand as you watch this classic TV show. Besides great articles and in-depth history of the show and how it came to be, has complete episode guide of all 152 episodes with lists of things to watch for and bloopers. Lots on interviews with the cast and great color pix of the collectibles. Definite five stars, or, as they rate the episodes in the book, I give it 5 bayonets
