Rating: Summary: An excellent book of my recommendation Review: At a time when I was most bored by my schooling and my family life, including my many apparent social short-comings, I found this to be an excellent opportunity to become aquainted with an individual hated by hypocrites I come in contact with daily. This became an addicting interest in an artist amongst fools who look to an uninhabited cross, emptied by an other man persecuted for his "radical" impact on a society also inhabited by "equals" of inferior wisdom. I would recommend this for reading to anyone confused by Marilyn Manson, his drama and theatrical presentations feared by mothers everywhere a show is played. This book made me realize what to look for in people, not they're false smiles, mint-green suits, happy demeanour and the like. I now see people for who they are, flawed creatures that share problems I once believed I was exclusive to. I wish to express my deepest thanks to: Mr. Manson, Brian Warner, Anton Szandor LA Vey, and Neil Strauss.
Rating: Summary: You must read this book! Review: In this book, Marilyn Manson reveals everything about himself, and it portrays the "Shock Rocker" as a real person, not just the crazy demon that everyone depicts him as. He is smart, interesting, and you get a feeling of what its like in the world of a rock-star, and all the problems they go through every day. Any fan of Marilyn Manson should really read this book, and anybody who doesn't like marilyn manson because of what he stands for or what you think you know about him absolutley MUST read this book!!!
Rating: Summary: Impressed Review: I love this book! I have been a fan of Marilyn Manson for a long time now. I have seen him at alomst every show that he has played here. No matter that"normal" people look at Marilyn in a different way, I look at him as someone who you can just sit back and listen to his music when...

Rating: Summary: Bought This for my Teen son Review: I wish we could give a book less then one star but its not possible on amazon.com is it>? All these four and five stars show you that this book is interesting, which is true it is. But I purchased this for my 17 year-old son as he wanted to report on this for a school project. This was his little anarchist expression, and I complied. But I also read it before I gave it to him so I could be aware of what he was being exposed to. I love Bio's myself and in fact never read fiction. I am facinated with people's lives and personal stories. I belive in free speech also! I have a pretty open mind, at my age which says alot I think. My take on this book is its a dark place you don't really need to visit especially if you have to pay for it. I mean this book would be cool if someone gave it to you and you'd probably check it out ram read a few passages go "eww ! this man needs to get a real life what a sad story!!!" and then throw out and forget to give it to anyone else. See, the thing is, this is one of those books that if you read any part of it at all, no matter how small, it sticks like nasty glue to your Soul for a very long time. You flash back on stuff outta this thing. -But in pity, you think, "wow I am so sorry someone who had a decent childhood CHOSE to be this sick, like on purpose, then, deluded himself and a few other lost people, into thinking that was ART". This man isn't an artist. His life is pain and he justifys it with presebting himself almost as victim of the masses and what?- "Christian zealots?" hello? I am not Christian, and I do not see his point. Manson sought Glamor and wants you to think the dark side of human experince is where "its at". -- Hopefull the world (media) and Teens will get tired of Manson and pass on this stuff, look for ways to help this world instead of wasting time trying to find someone to blame for whatever misery one can so easily see when one looks for it, and as in Mansons case.. places oneself in its PATH. Theres no enlightenment here, this is a Jerry Springer ditty. I don't regret buying this for my child, but I hope he and anyone one else who reads this book will grow by seeing that following someone who is this lost, will leave you just as lost. We all have personal choice, and there ARE other ways to be interesting, without demeaning life as Manson has done with his.
Rating: Summary: amazing insight into the mind of such an intriguing artist Review: this boook is the life of marilyn manson. essentially, that is it. the really cool thing is this: many people hear the name marilyn manson and assume it is more shock than rock, all an act for fame's sake. they could not be more wrong. marilyn is an intelligent, thought provoking and yes controversial artist. this book covers his life and what exactly makes him "tick" i find it an intriguig insight into a man who is both extremist to make a point and yet just like every person who felt like a throwaway. reading this book made me realize that he is just a normal guy taking on a society that in which, one can sometimes feel disposable. if your truly interested in this topic, keep an open mind a TRULY OPEN mind. this is a great read. sometimes sick and twisted, sometimes just the story of a rock band and other times just a person trying to express his view of things (even as akew as his views are, it is still just artistic expression) all in all a great book for those who are not closed minded, ignorant or timid.
Rating: Summary: I LOVE THIS MAN!!!!! Review: Marilyn Manson proves he is an intelligent, insightful man in this autobiography. It's fascinating!!! He is very well-written and talented. He has no illusions about himself; instead of asking for hero worship, Marilyn/Brian shows us his true face, admitting his weaknesses, calling things as he sees them, and being very open and honest about the events and people in his life and how they've affected him. I highly recommend this book for fans and non-fans alike. In fact, if you are not a fan and read this book, I'm betting you WILL be as soon as you've finished reading. Brian Warner has always been intense, even in youth, but he found a wonderful outlet for all his angst in his creation of Marilyn. His talent continues to grow and surprise; not only does he write the songs for his band, but he is a photographer and writer as well (check out his photos of his honey Dita Von Teese in Playboy [Nov I think]). He is a passionate, talented man and should not be discounted just because he chooses "darkness" as his platform. We all hide our darkness within; all of us are capable of being the anti-christ (you HAVE to read his definition of this - it completely makes sense!). It is to this part of our being that Marilyn speaks - and every single word is worth hearing.
Rating: Summary: A great biography Review: The book "The Long Hard Road Out Of Hell" by Marilyn Manson wasn't a New York Times bestseller for nothing. It's basically a biography of his life, told this his perspective. It's a suprising story of how he got to the top, and what he had to do to get there. This story starts out with him discovering things such as dildos and vaselines in his grandfather's basement, and it only gets more interesting. This book isn't for the weakhearted, though. I'm not a fan of his music, but he's had a very interesting life. I definately reccomend picking this up.
Rating: Summary: An insight to a very clever man Review: What can I say about this book except"sheer brilliant"An insight into the world of Marilyn Manson a must read for all avid fans and new comers alike . Once you begin to read this book and discover the innocence, ability, and drive of this man only then can you understand Mr manson himself. A must have book on your shelf
Rating: Summary: Best Biography I have Ever Read... Review: This book is by far the best biography I have ever read. It is unlike any other you will probably ever read in your life. Manson starts off the book by telling stories from his childhood and from his days in school. It goes on to telling about how the band got started, stories of bad trips, bad relationships, etc. How it differs from most biographies, is that it has some of his artwork in it, and stories that he has wrote to an editor of a magazine (hoping that the editor would publish these stories in the magazine.) I liked Manson's music before I read this -- but I think that even if you disliked Manson's music, you would still enjoy this book. It is fascinating, and I guarantee once you start this book, you wont be able to put it down.
