Rating: Summary: Great book Review: A VERY good read for anyone who can handle a little sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll. This book brings you through a lot of weird happenings, and is written very well. It's a book for the mature of audiences, though.
Rating: Summary: A must-read for any MANSON fan Review: This biography is one of the most interesting books I have ever read, and this is coming from a guy who normally doesn't read books. It was interesting to read about Manson and Trent Reznor recording at the Sharon Tate house and his views on various things. Also has lots of great pictures of Brian Warner as a kid. Once you start reading this, you can't put it down.
Rating: Summary: Made in Manson Review: My frist impression of this book? WOW. Manson has been criticized a million times, and this book gives reason. This book can be read by anyone, anyone who has never even heard his music will still find this book highly addivctive. I have read several biographies and autobiographies (the dead, mccartney...) but none of them have a down to earth feeling and they all talk about technical aspects of their lives. They dont tell about their shortcomings, drugs, sex....ect. But manson gives a full dose of his life from the time he was a baby till the point when his single (The Beautiful people) reaches No.3 in the charts. This book is so explicit and raw that it makes it painfully normal but that same time extraordinary. Each one of us can relate to this book in some way or the other. You might hear some Goth kids come up and say "I'm different and this book is just like my life." Thats rubbish. This book is for all us no matter what clothes we wear or what our background is. Its about life in a "normal" world that happens everyday seen through the eyes of someone with excellent ideas and visions with a view to change it. And yes, he too is normal and ordinary trying to make his dreams come true and break away from the conformity of society. This book should be used by every one as a model to not only believe in yourselves, but also to acknowledge your shortcomings. Soccer moms and Businessmen alike should quit their demented and disgusting repetitive life and try to find something new. This book teaches us that life never stops....whether you are me or Marilyn Manson. Written simple and brilliant.
Rating: Summary: long hard road indeed Review: I was given this book as a christmas present, so as you do i thought i'd read a page or two of it while waiting for a party to begin...7 hours later i had read the entire book and thus missed the party, that's how truly addictive it was. It's quite probaly the best book i've ever read. His life made mine boring in comparision with its uncommon events, amazing moments and often disturbing times such as his grandfather's basement...and ending with a quote from the back cover of the book "The best rock autobiography...since Iggy Pop's I Need More", how true.
Rating: Summary: SATANS RIGHT HAND IN YOUR HAND Review: As a big manson fan I am bit of an outcast at school. when i read this book i learned that manson was much like me in about any possible way. He grew up normal as a little anti-christ and loved his music and drank godamb its like my biography!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: Great read Review: This is a really interesting book about the life of Marilyn Manson. You follow him through adventures in satanism, paganism, sex, drugs, music, even his grandfathers basement. I read this as a big fan of Manson, but it was really an amazing read dispite the fact that i already have a great deal of respect for him. he's an amazing musician, and also a great writer. His life is full of twists and turns, and i dont think i can say anything bad about the book. I couldnt put it down. Its an addictive read, and i hafta suggest it to anyone that isnt easiy perturbed by fairly graphic journeys through drugs and sex
Rating: Summary: A great read for Manson lovers and haters Review: Now there are two reasons i picked up this great book A. I am a huge fan of Mr. mansons music B. i wanted to learn more about the man behind all of the controversy the media consistantly brings up whenever his name is mentioned. From the 1st page on i was engrossed in this brilliant book he hides nothing and tells all, embarresing or not, disturbing or not, trouble with trent reznor( ex good friend and the man behind NIN) the problems he had with his bandmates his childhood, parents, grandparents, everything. You do learn alot and find its not about controversy to him its about being him and it offends you thats your problem he even ha a uote that i love " if you want to be like me then be who you really are." As you read along you realize he grew up somewhat normal(some what being the key word) was outcasted as a boy loved music was very creative Some parts though are just so out there, that they may have been fabrigated a bit, those parts will shock die hard hristians if they have the decency to put there gos aside and read this book. The reason the haters of manson should read this manly is even if you hate him you can learn why he is and theres reasons why so pick this book up put your weak ehar aside ( if you have one) and enjoy a good autobiography but an intelligent rockstart enjoy and beware once you pick this book up it might be hard to put down.
Rating: Summary: BEST BOOK Review: You have to read this book........this is everything MANSON and I am a MANSON fan and this book brings u closer to manson! U REALLY NEED TO READ IT i have read it thousands of times and it never gets old! if u hate manson u should read this and understand him!
Rating: Summary: This book is about Christianity Review: This is not an autobiography. It can certainly pass for an autobiography, but the real purpose of the book is an outlet for Marilyn Manson to state what events came together to lead him where he is today: the world's leading figure against Christianity. This is where the book leaves off. Since then, Marilyn Manson has become more than the definitive anti-Christ, and evolved to be at his very core an artist who stands against Everything. And he does it with a grace, originality, and subtlety that is so hard to find in many other artists today. Many who read this book wonder what happened to him. Where did he go wrong? The people who ask this are unfortunately the ones who he is trying to reach the most. A better question is not what went wrong in his life to lead him where he is today. The question is what happened to everyone else, and why is Marilyn Manson the only one?
Rating: Summary: Couldnt Take Myself Away From This Book... Review: From the first word to the last word...this book was honestly the best book i have ever touched...He is so real throughout the whole book and doesnt throw u anything that isnt true. After reading this i have much more respect for him. He has gone through hell and is still doing good...people say hes messed up but once you read this book you literally take a walk through his sick life. And after reading this i realized that he isnt even that messed up...if i were in his shoes and went through what he did i dont think i would still be alive. Its so descriptive too that i could almost know and walk through where he grew up. I love this book to death and read it over and over....the only thing i really have to say is click the little add to cart button...really ~Alex
