Rating: Summary: Amazing, how quick we hate, the one who relays the truth Review: Within the pages of this book i came to concretely realize . . and place in perspective just what we live in. Never have i been so blown away and completely enthralled with ONE human beings action towards a hippocritical society. The worst part about this book is knowing that someday you WILL have to finish it. A MUST read for any person willing to expand themselves . . . and let me put it this way . . for expansion's sake . . i absolutely HATED Manson one long time ago . . i felt the need to understand him before i hated him . . i read the book . . and realised just how ironically close my already existing life mirrors his. Just another forgotten and unscathed mastermind.
Rating: Summary: why aren't there like . . . 25 stars? Review: I really enjoyed the book. I found out a lot of stuff I never knew about Manson . . . like for one . . . that he is a genius. He really lets go in the book, and you can feel for him when he gets dissed as a puny nerd kid, and you are like smiling and saying "rock on" when he tells how he got revenge on all the people who screwed him out of whatever he deserved . . . fame. Very insightful.
Rating: Summary: Explained that Manson is more of a person than a superstar. Review: One doesn't think that rockstars have hard lives, have opinions and thoughts and feelings. This book brought Brian Warner, AKA Marilyn Manson to life. He discussed his childhood, his teen years, and his transformation from Brian Warner to his new identity of Marilyn Manson. I read the book before I understood the music, and it helped alot to understand exactly where he's coming from. I would recomend it more to the parents of kids who listen to manson, because it totally changed my mother's mind about him.
Rating: Summary: good book. Review: I read Long Hard Road Out of Hell, and I thought the book to be very intense. Gave views and images that were unusually pleasant to the eye. I love what this book has done, put anti manson people right in there places. I am fan of his music also, but a book has never brought so much emotion.
Rating: Summary: This Book Kicks A** Review: If you like Manson or just want to know about him this is the book to get. I couldn't put this book down. I loved in from front to back. Ya gotta check this one out.
Rating: Summary: Like nothing I have ever read. Review: This book intrigued me because I thought I was de-sensitized to violence, but realized that there is alot more out there that I could never even comprehend. I read it in one sitting and talked about it to friends for days. Brian is an intelligent, thought provoking writer.
Rating: Summary: Absolutly Disgusting Review: I bought thid book because I absolutly loved Manson! Some other people said that it was sick, but I didn't listen to that, because I loved him so much, and thought they knew s**t. If you are a big Manson fan, and are saying that too, beleive me on this one! If you like to read about Manson picking off bugs from his d**k, grandpa's masterbating, losing virginity, and other sick sex, well this is for you. If you're a big Manson fan like I am, just stick to the CD's. Trust me on this one, and you'll be glad.I still like him, but not this book. Oh, one more sick thing. Marilyn and Twiggy, (by the way I think Twiggy is the hottest guy on this Earth!) are left deserted, both naked in cold snow. They dig up dead bones, and bring them on the tour with them. This book did however have a couple of good points about his tragic childhood. Stick to Manson's Cd's this time! Twiggy is soooooo hot!!!
Rating: Summary: Marilyn Manson Revealed Review: Marilyn Manson (Brian Warner) is many things to many different people. He is a satanic demon and antichrist to the religous right. He is an idol to many teenagers. He is a respected and a hated musician. He might even think of himself as the redeemer that Nietzsche hoped would triumph over God and nothingness. It is not suprising that many do not understand this man. A Long Hard Road Out of Hell is an insightful portrait the man who has inspired much controversy. He represents the course of his life as a descent into hell--Dante's inferno to be precise. As his life and the book progress, he descends into lower and lower circles. This is an interesting device, but the book tends to focus more on the descent than it does on his thoughts. There are many other people who have written about their darkest experiences, but Manson's ideas are unique. A Long Hard Road Out of Hell is at its best when it focuses on Manson's philosophical side. I like knowing that his music has a purpose. Manson is trying to get people to see who they are (what society has made them become), and show them that they can become more than the sum of society's influences. He is a musician but he is also a philosopher. Many of his ideas are a lot like Nietszche's and La Vey's. His songs are about self sufficiency and not being dependent on constructs such as religion and media. It is almost ironic that in a way he is trying to reform society by becoming everything that it hates.
Rating: Summary: Perverted & Demented, But Still an Eye Opener Review: By the time i was at the end of the book all the drug use, bondage and mental decay was almost meaningless. It desensitized me so much to it, that i would almost recommend it to anyone, but that would be wrong because i figure that most people would be horribly offended by it and they would continue to believe that he is an evil person. I recommend this to all Manson fans, but others, be wary. The rumor clarifications at the end of the book helped a lot, but i wish he had said more about it.
Rating: Summary: amazing read, couldn't put it down Review: Its was so wonderful to see that someone else sees the world as i do. Many of the things that he expresses are more true in this world then people want to beleive.
