Rating: Summary: Life of rock and roll stars revealed. Review: This is an inside look at a world most of us will never experience and will have a difficult time fully understanding. Aerosmith and their associates reveal EXACTLY what it was like to rise from being nobodies, who happen to love music, to the ranks of rock and roll stardom. I am astounded that these men could abuse themselves to such an extent and still rise above it to become even better. This book is a testament to their undying dedication to the music and to the depth of their talent.
Rating: Summary: Very well written and engrossing Review: A compilation of writings documenting the words of band members, spouses, ex-spouses, hangers-on, roadies, dope dealers, ex-marines and others. Delivered in a timeline style, with brutal honesty from the participants about their time in the life, the multiple addictions, getting clean and staying that way. Very current, includes Nine Lives. Makes you realize how good these guys were (are) to have played so long when they were completely fried.
Rating: Summary: Sex, Drugs, and America's Rock & Roll Band Review: The best accounting of America's Rock & Roll house band for the past twenty-five years. If you didn't understand the "toxic twins" tag then, you'll understand it now. A pull-no-punches chronical of how drugs influence music in a positive way sometimes (ala Toys In The Attic and Rocks) to how success leads to better drugs, and ultimately how that combination leads to failure. A must-read for any rock & roll fan who came of age with Aerosmith, either time around!
Rating: Summary: Reads like a pharmaceutical guide for 70's rock and roll Review: Aerosmith opens themselves up warts and all. The book never treats the reader as he/she were needing a "don't do drugs" message. They tell the story of their existance together with honesty and openness that most other people would try to hide. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Aerosmith.
Rating: Summary: Perception altering view of the music world. Review: A detailed journey into the life of the five members of arguably the most popular rock band in the world. This combination of narrative and band member contribution shatters the myth that life as a rock star is champagne and roses. Pulling no punches, the text takes the reader from Steven Tyler and Joe Perrys' life growing up to the pinnacle of superstardom. In between are detailed accounts of the excesses, stress, burnout, wealth, poverty and adulation that go into the making of performers into their third decade with Aerosmith. You will not find a more honest and emotional rendering anywhere. The band as well as all the other contributors deserve a round of applause for pulling back the veil and allowing us to gaze inside at a unique world.
Rating: Summary: aerosmith rocks!!!!! Review: This book was the bomb! It was completely awesome.I love aerosmith even more now. They also had great pictures. I do wish it had more newer info, but great history. Overall a great book.
Rating: Summary: Amazing Review: Definitely the best autobiography I have ever read, and up there with the best books I have ever read. Nothing is sugar-coated; the book is completely honest and simply amazing. If you like Aerosmith at all, read this book. You will love it.
Rating: Summary: Honesty and Vulnerability Review: I've been a fan since 1973 and like fine wine Aerosmith gets better with age. "Walk This Way" doesn't offer up many surprizes, but its stripped down honesty, from both sides of the fence make it a worthwhile and enjoyable read. What a "B*$#%@!" Joe Perry's first wife was.... and a charm his second wife is. Many hats off to the whole band, especially Tom Hamilton for staying MARRIED to the same woman, through thick and thin.
Rating: Summary: Almost as good as meeting the band Review: And I should know, we met Steven (and the rest of the band) and let me tell you, he is THE most charming man I have ever met. The book gives you a sense of having a one on one chat with each band member, along with friends, roadies, wives, and ex-wives. They dealt with EVERYTHING openly and honestly. Truly the best book I've read in a long, long time. Also many wonderful pictures (especially of STEVEN and JOE PERRY) LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT. If you have ever been curious about America's band then this is the book for you. I laughed,I cried, I felt as if I were their therapist. Very touching when Steven talks about his relationship with his daughter Liv, the tears were endless. If you are a true fan then your life will not be complete til you read this book.
Rating: Summary: Walk this Way, The book about Aerosmith Review: Walk this way is really a winner. I bought it recently and enjoyed every single part of it. The most important thing is, the story is emotive, authentic, and, most of all, real.I loved especially their opinion on their worst years, because it is a good example for everyone about the way to walk their lives.I could feel it. Thank you, Stephen Davis, Thank you all, Aerosmith. Adriano Varoli (giuliovp@impsat1.com.ar) Mendoza, Argentina.
