Summary: Biased biography
Review: This is a great book for Led Zeppelin fans because it was clearly written by a fan. The author seems to be constantly telling us how great Zeppelin was. They certainly were a great band, and the book has a lot of interesting facts and tales of the band on the road, but there is barely a mention of Page's heroin addiction or the fact that these guys were not exactly prolific songwriters. Their albums typically had less than ten songs on them, and many were [too similar to]old blues songs. Yet, the author wants to tell us that this band was so incredibly important musically. I'd argue Zeppelin was important culturally since they were the start of the suburban American heavy metal experience for kids growing up. Anyway, the book is a fun read, but don't take the author's declarations about Zeppelin's greatness too seriously, after all it's only rock n' roll and they were only a rock n' roll band.

Summary: Led Zep was definetly NOT Houses of the Holy...
Review: Fantastic story! Even if this isn't all exactly true, it's highly entertaining and a classic read of a classic band. The early Yardbirds account and the hedonistic life led on the road were very informative to me. The big benefit to this book is Davis's capability as author of actually putting you in the 60's and 70's for Zep's hayday...I do see the previous reviewers point of a sort of "rush-through" of the final years, but the details leading up to that more than offset this minor critique. A real page-turner and hard to put down, especially if you're a Zep fan.

Summary: The ultimate legacy of one of rock's greatest bands!
Review: Hammer of the Gods is the true testament to Led Zeppelin. Stephen Davis paints a startlingly intimate portrayal of the band, from its humble beginnings to the death of John Bonham, and beyond. At times funny, at times thought-provoking, yet always interesting, the book covers all the bases. Even the novice Zeppelin fan will not be able to put it down. It's all here, it's all true, and it's the best Zep book on the market. Buy it-this is a book you'll want to read again and again.

Summary: The legacy continues!
Review: This book is great. It captures the mystery and intrigue of zeppelin while still clearing many things up. It never goes to succ an extreme where you are left in the dark, but you never really get it all. It goes into great detail in many things, but it just doesnt explain everything. Greatly written by a man close to the band, but I must say the new chapter ruins the great ending with the qoute from Robert Plant. Overall this book is excellent and I would recomend it to anyone who has any interest in the greatest band of all time.....Led Zeppelin.

Summary: Great Band, Great Book
Review: This book, is a must for any zeppelin fan. The book contains a ton of information. From the Yardbirds right up to the end. Some people are skeptable about this book due to the fact that the information could be jolted. I feel while at times the stories sound so true and detailed. While other stories are just mentioned. Richard Cole, the band's stage manager, gives buckets of quotes. I feel the book is great because, you hear all these rumors and stories about zeppelin, but this book gives it straight. It openly admits that LZ's III (three), was not well liked by critics; then quotes Jimmy Page's disappointment.

All in all, i suggest this book, to one and all. Whether a huge Zeppelin fan, or just a music fan in general.

Summary: Read it
Review: What is there to say? If you are a Zeppelin fan, you must read this book. Don't think about it, just read it.

Summary: "Unauthorized" should be in big, bold letters on the cover.
Review: I held off on purchasing this book for quite some time. I finally succumbed to the temptation and bought a copy despite the possibility of being disapointed (and nauseated). I have read most of the book, and have yet to decide whether to vomit and return the book to the store, or keep reading and then vomit some more. If you are looking to find the truth behind the debauchery stories of one of the greatest rock bands, I suggest that you look elsewhere. Deemed as the "definitive biography" of Led Zeppelin, this book only further perpetuates the mystery behind the stories. The author does a poor job of being convincing. Also, one wonders about the intelligence/developmental level of the some of the women who were interviewed which does not yield a reliable source of information. As a result, the reader is left wondering if these wonderful musicians were really as idiotic as the stories have suggested. The tales are a bit unnerving (to some they may be understandably humorous). But even worse is ever- present feeling that what you are reading may or may not be utter rubbish. If you are looking for some entertainment and do not give a hoot as to what the band did in their spare time, and you are not bothered by a rather large degree of uncertainty, then by all means, grab a copy, relax and perhaps keep a bottle of Pepto-Bimal handy.

Summary: Essential Reading For Any Zep-Head
Review: Okay, so the title may be a bit overblown. But this is the truestory (well... most of it anyway) of the best-selling rock band ofall-time (besides the Beatles). Obviously, a lot of people want to know what went on behind the scenes during the lives of such pop culture icons, and this book is, without a doubt, the place to get just that. It is well written, and hilarous. I laughed out loud many times during the reading of the book. Priceless. END

Summary: Ladies and Gentleman, The LED ZEPPELIN!
Review: I read this book 10 years ago for the first time and just read it again in a few short days. This book is an excellent account of the rise and fall of Led Zep. I depicts thier lives before thier rapid rise to the top all the way through to the unfortunate death of the best rock drummer of all time, the "mighty" John Bonham. This book goes into explicit detail of thier life on the road. The bands ups and downs are described in great detail also, which gives you an eerie feeling. Did they sell thier souls to the devil ? Good question. Read this book and decide for yourself. It's a book that you won't put down until your done. Very funny, and well written. I reccomend it highly for any Led Zep fan.

Summary: Not fair....
Review: I believe that the author was not fair to the Band. Some of the things that were written made the Greatest Band of All Time sound like a bunch of idiot's, when it is obvious by there success that they were and still are serious businessmen, Yeah they had some good times on the road, I think all rock stars do crazy things, But the author only focuses on second hand gossip. How Tacky!
