Summary: Campbell is Great
Review: If Chins Could Kill, is a great biography. I loved Bruce Campbell and I loved the book. He shares his past pasionatlly with you as he talks about his carear. There is a great part about the Evil Dead, which he co-produced with Sam Raimi. He talks about other details of his life and you get to know him a little better. Bruce is one of my all time favorite actors. He uses sarcasm well which I love, and he's believabe. He's not the greatest actor in the world and will never win an oscar, but he's one of the few actors that is like me and you. If you love Bruce Campbell you will love this book. If you have no idea who he is, you still probaly will. Don't miss out on it.

Summary: An essential for every library
Review: IF CHINS COULD KILL: CONFESSIONS OF A B-MOVIE ACTOR is cult favorite Bruce Campbell's comedic autobiography, detailing his entire life from his "Three Stooges"-surrounded childhood to his current fame as a film legend.

Those of you who have heard of Campbell are likely to know him from his classic film debut, THE EVIL DEAD, or his frequent TV appearances on shows like XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS and HERCULES: THE LEGENDARY JOURNEYS.

Being a fan of Campbell, I bought this book first chance I got. It ranks highly among the greatest books I've ever read. His life is so interesting, so unbelievable, so...Bruce! He has a sense of humor like no other person. This book will keep you reading non-stop for days, even with those of you who are "illiterate". You'll laugh, you'll laugh, and...you'll laugh. It's got to be just about the funniest book I've ever read.

From XENA to EVIL DEAD, SPIDER-MAN to MANIAC COP, IF CHINS COULD KILL follows every aspect of Bruce's life, and is a must for aspiring filmmakers or for the just plain Average Joe. Unmissable!

Summary: A great storyteller!
Review: Wow! Bruce Campbell's tales are great. This book is 344 pages long and I finished this book in 2 days. Part of me feels I should have paced myself, because I am looking real forward to his next book, with the rumored title being "Make Love the Bruce Campbell Way" which is supposedbly going to be released next summer (2004). That book, mind you will be a work of fiction when it is completed. But this is a review about this book and not the one being written.

If Chins Could Kill, is really a compilation of stories spanning from his childhood to the present day. It covers the days of making short films w/ Sam Raimi (director of Spiderman fame) as a teenager, the making of the Evil Dead Trilogy, Briscoe County Jr, Xena and Hercules and finally some info on Bubbaho-tep. The paperback covers his book tour for the hardback edition of the book.

I only put this book down so I could laugh, eat, laugh, sleep, laugh, apologize to friends and family cuz I lost track of time, and laugh some more. I haven't read a book that made me smile this much in a long time, and I imagine it will be a while before it happens again.

Summary: B-Movie actors rule!!
Review: This was a very wickedly funny read for me, Bruce has a great way of looking at Hollywood and the lifestyle, basically, don't take any of it seriously. This is a great read for anyone thinking about making movies,(classic gore would be the best)and taking on the acting monster. Being that the chapters are only about 3-5 pages long, this is a quick and convenient reading bonanza. The only complaint I do have with the book is the added section: Addendum:Chins across America:The Tour, it was not as fast paced as the rest of the book and got kinda boring at spots,(sorry Bruce). So pick up the book and find out what it's like to have a real job. Oh, and Bruce, please don't start talking politics on us,we have enough political braniac's in Hollywood.

Summary: Hard to put this one down!
Review: I can't think of the last time I read a book which I could read for hours and still want to keep going. This book is a really funny and interesting read if you're familiar with Bruce's work. If not, then the book probably won't make any sense.

Summary: Bruce who??
Review: I was browsing [the internet site] one day, not too long ago, looking for a funny book. I stumbled upon this book, If Chins Could Kill, by Bruce Campbell. I said to my husband, "Honey, who is Bruce Campbell?" He went on to tell me that Bruce starred in the Evil Dead films. Oookay. I'd never seen an Evil Dead movie (heard of them, yet not seen them). But my hubby said the guy is hilarious, so I bought it. Well, let me tell you...the guy IS hilarious!! As I was reading the book, and Bruce told of the different roles he'd been in, I said, "OH YES, I remember this guy now!!" As I said, I'd never seen an Evil Dead movie, didn't have a clue as to who Ash was, or Sam Raimi for that matter. I came away after reading the book, a huge fan of both Bruce and Sam both. Everything they went through to get their films made was astounding! Bruce tells about their (mis)adventures with such humor. He is self depricating, which makes the reader want to root for the guy, which this reader did. The writing is very smooth, to where you are not bored...he has pictures throughout the book, which was great, as well as the (funny) remarks by the pictures. If you'd like to learn about a few guys struggling to make it in *Show Business*, this is the book for you to read. If you just want a funny, entertaining read, this book is for you. If you are a HUGE fan of the Evil Dead movies, nevermind, you already have the book. ;) I highly recommend it to anyone, so buy it already!

Summary: You Will Never Put It Down
Review: This book is definately one of the most entertaining books I have ever read. As a long time BC fan, I was extremely excited when I found this book on the store shelf, and once I started it I couldn't put it down.

Half BC life story, and half How To make an independent movie, Chins was entertaining, witty, hilarious, and enlightening. From the stories of BC's childhood tribulations, to the antics of Sam Raimi, this book tells it all. On top of all that it is loaded with great pictures throughout the entire book.

Anyone who has ever enjoyed BC's talent and sense of humor will treasure this book...I know I did.

Summary: Well, 4.5 stars, but only because it came with no boomstick
Review: Otherwise, wonderful. Bruce "The Chin" Campbell takes us on a thrill ride about his ascent (?) to the cream of the Hollywood crop. He tells of endless orgies, triumphant award ceremonies, and rewarding shoots on location.

Well, he would, if he had been accorded roles to go with his talent. What he really does is tell of how he came to be here in the first place. Not a lot of personal details after high school, but who wants them? I'm interested in his relationship with the Raimis and how he pushed forward without them (although still very much a part of them).

It's fast paced, flippant, but amazingly well structured for a book of this type. He reveals telling bits about his career and the Evil Dead films, not to mention his ongoing quest to truly make it big as an actor.

In the 40's or 50's, Bruce would have been HUGE. He has the looks and the attitude of an old-time adventure hero, and that comes through in the book. Unfortunately, we live in a new age, and things aren't so easy on the Chin.

It's anecdotal, can be read in chunks, and is more than worth your time if you're interested AT ALL in the film industry. I personally loved it.

Read it twice, in fact. And then went to fetch my boomstick.

Summary: Well...
Review: An enjoyable, interesting and somewhat enlightening read for fans of Mr Campbell or 'Army of Darkness' in particular, B-movie fans in general, and those interested in independent/guerilla filmmaking. Campbell writes well and drops a few amusing anecdotes, but it's not exactly world-shattering stuff.

Summary: One of the greatest books i have ever read
Review: Listen up you primitive screwheads. I bought this book on a Tuesday night and was finished by Thursday afternoon. Not because it is short (Its not, its a good 300 pages) but because it was a book I could not put down. Mr. Campbell's book is one of the only books I have ever read without actually having to. His humor and his story have a way of pulling you in and never letting go. Now im not just saying that because I am a fan. (To tell you the truth I have never even heard of him until I saw this book) So what are you waiting for? Go ahead and buy the book. It'll be the best 14.00 dollars you ever spent. I guarantee it.
