Summary: Chronicles of the world's grooviest actor
Review: Bruce Campbell released his long awaited novel to the public, and it has shot up the bestseller lists. That's a good thing. Campbell's book is funny, insightful, and sad all at the same time. Many celebrity autobiographies are them talking about all their blockbusters and fortune, etc. Campbell, with exception of the Evil Dead series, didn't have any blockbusters, much less a fortune. From the moment you pick up this book, chances are you wont put it down until you either finish it or pass out. A bit short, but extremely welll written. Kudos, Bruce!

Summary: One of the most overlooked actors of our time..
Review: One might find it funny that Bruce Campbell has never achieved fame and fortune of any creditable degree despite being in the business longer than it takes a window licker to graduate highschool, but i don't. I find it uplifting. This book about a man with no marketable skills and less acting ability than john wayne's kid, is an inspiration to anyone who reads it, simply because no matter how badly you have it in life you can always look at Bruce Campbell and say, "..at least i'm not a washed up b movie actor..", and you will feel better. So, i recommend buying this book to everyone who wants to feel better about their lot in life.

Summary: More biography than behind-the-scenes...
Review: Despite the title, this book is more of a biography of Bruce Campbell the person than the behind the scenes look at a 'B' actor's career. It takes almost half the book before he gets to Hollywood and by then he's already known for the first 'Evil Dead' movie.

Once he gets there (Hollywood), the book picks up pace and the anecdotes move along well. I enjoyed all of the info on the 2nd and 3rd Evil Dead movies, the Brisco County, Jr. series info and all of his bit parts. The 'how-to' section on acting didn't do much for me, but if you're interested in a life in Hollywood, its an informative read.

All in all, a good read that unfortunately takes awhile to kick in.

Summary: If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor
Review: Campbell's autobiography initially causes the reader to wonder if the same grade school humor and adolescent perspectives are going to continue throughout. Once 60 or 70 pages deep, however, the reader quickly realizes that the calibre of experiences and the way told improves with each stage of his life. The book accomplishes a number of things. It provides much entertainment to the laymen amongst us. It thoroughly conveys the level of committment required to eventually put the odds of success in your favor. It lets you know what trying really is. It provides numerous examples of obstacles against success, and how one person defeated them with energy and creativity. An honest portrayal is forwarded on what many actors and actresses are really like, some named, others described as a group. Campbell leaves the reader with a better perspective on the idea that success need not elude people with faults and tendencies to goof up. Such people (like the reader) might have to try hard, but have we tried as hard as Campbell? Most of us will say no.

Summary: It's GROOVY BABY!!
Review: This book is witty and it's like he's talking to you and not at you. There aren't any big ol words in it and he's honest about things tells ya about his loves and the page about his divorce that was a tear maker cause you could tell he really wanted to save this marriage. You really geta feel that he gets a bum rap as a b actor cause he's so into his work and the craft. and you can see how he changed from a lil nobody with a lotta heart into a big somebody with a lotta heart :)

this is a most read book for anyone who has seen more then 2 of his movies :)

Summary: A slap of realism
Review: Bruce Campbell's brutal honesty about the Hollywood industry paints a picture of what its really like being a professional actor. there isn't much glamour, and its a lot of work finding a job. Only those who love the craft of acting, not fame. Should venture out in this profession. Not everyone gets famous right away or at all. The message is printed clear, with no bitterness directed toward the up and coming would be actors out there. This is a good read if you want to become an actor.

P.S. If you are an "Evil Dead" fan, then this book is for you.

Summary: A witty, breezy read!
Review: This book is just plain fun to read.

Okay, sure... you get some interesting insight into the struggles it takes to be a working actor in Stage, Film, TV and that spore-infested place called Hollywood. I certainly enjoyed anecdotes about the Evil Dead films, Brisco County Jr., Congo, Hercules, Xena, the X-files and more... But lets face it, Bruce Campbell brings one thing to his roles that got me interested enough to buy the book in the first place: a sense of fun. And *that* is represented in his writing in spades. For proof, I merely had to catch my wife (whose usual reaction to any Bruce Campbell masterpiece is to groan in despair) happily reading this book herself... This turned out to be fairly easy, since every other page had her laughing out loud.

I didn't complain, since I had already finished it... I read the entire thing cover to cover (a fairly meaty 300 pages) the same day it arrived. It's written in such a lively, engaging style that it was never put down for long.

If you're interested enough to read these reviews, then you're interested enough to buy the book and enjoy the heck out of it.

Summary: Words to live by!!
Review: This book reads well and is as fun as all BC's movies. GREAT book!!! If you get nothing else out of it, remember Bruce's great bit of advice, "never argue with a man who has a bullet hole in his car."

Summary: I suppose I should write something witty
Review: ... Anyways, this guy is wonderful. I've been a fan for the longest time. I saw the second Evil Dead when I was a kid and I was probably the only one who got scared of it. Anyways, Bruce is great at writing long stories full of humor that can sometimes be hard to pick up on if you're an idiot. He's got opinions, and trust you me, they are very funny ones. He can pick up on one subject and go on for a while and split off onto other tangents but by the end, his opinions come together to make sense. He's great at not going along with conventions of typical hollywood types as well. Dennis Miller's got nothing on him. Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

Summary: An entertaining, insightful read
Review: I'm not much of a book reader, so I normally don't get excited over autobiographies. But I must say that I read the book from cover to cover in one sitting and enjoyed it immensely. It's well-written, humorous, and offers insightful information on Hollywood through Campbell's trials and tribulations of making ends meet in the business. He discusses not only the Evil Dead movies, but also touches on the range of his work from Crimewave to the Hercules/Xenia TV shows. Campbell mentions little of his personal life, which is actually refreshing..allowing fans to get a sense of who he is through his writing and his film/TV work. He comes across as a "down to earth" kind of guy, sort of as someone who'd be chronicling his experiences in a diary. Avid Bruce Campbell fans will enjoy this book, as well as mainstream book readers who are looking for something fun and entertaining to read...oh, and two high points of the book: tons of photos and drawings; and short chapters (I don't know how many times I lost interest in a book because the chapters were 20-30 pages long). Highly recommended...
