Rating: Summary: the other man Review: I would not pay full price for the book. I have no way of knowing how much of it is true or not true, but I did not find it believable, particularly the latter part. Without rehashing the whole book, I find it unlikely they could meet repeatedly in hotels without her being noticed, that she could sit outside the step of his house crying in full view without anyone seeing her, that she asked for his help to leave jfk jr. and went after his taxi when he left. I liked the books by Christopher Andersen and Edward Klein much better, and found them more believable, even though of course I have no way of knowing either way. My recommendation is that if someone wants to read the book they not pay full price.
Rating: Summary: Sincerely written and a good read Review: Michael Bergins sincerity comes through and sounds honest and truthful. I am glad he wrote about Carolyn Bessette because SO much has been written and you never know what the truth is. He has set the record straight-even if it is just his view. Timing is good as he could have cashed in ages ago. Now I wish he would write one on the modeling world!
Rating: Summary: could someone please write a "review"? Review: I was hoping to read a few reviews that actually review the book. Instead it appears that the book has induced an inordinate amount of judgmental barf, save for one reviewer who actually explains how the book fits into other Kennedy literature.
Rating: Summary: "Same Time Next Year!" Review: This book did nothing but relate when and where the author and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy had sex. He may have said he loved her, and she felt the same, but you would never know from this story. It sounds like the play, "Same Time, Next Year." Meet, have sex, argue, stay away from one another a few months, then start it all over again. The only thing I can say if this IS true, is poor John, Jr. He deserved better. I can't imagine any woman cheating on John, but apparently he married one. According to the author, John suspected he and Carolyn were having an affair. It sickens me to think what John must have gone through the last few months of his life. Whatever the author and Carolyn had, it wasn't love.
Rating: Summary: prostitute Carolyn, Insecure Michael, Confused Kennedy Review: Yeah, yeah, yeah. We'll never know fully what drove Carolyn to play such a number on Michael's heart (how CRUEL was she?), yet we know that in order for us to assess the situation ourselves we need more details as to what kind of a person she really was. Knowing that she was emotionally needy and she was a nervous sleeper with some abondoment issues isn't enough. We need details! Unfortunately the book doesn't have many of those. Just the same repetitive formula about how beautiful she was (I beg to differ) and how complicated she was (need more detail). Overall, it all left me empty.
Rating: Summary: mb Review: I think this book was a good thing for Michael Bergin to write..He got alot off his chest and made me see the true colors of Carolyn that many people didn't know about her other then being the wife of John jr. I feel bad for this guy..I feel like he was used by her and to naive to realize what she was really all about..i guess it's true love is blind..
Rating: Summary: AT LEAST I READ THE BOOK! Review: I cannot believe the people who are giving this book one star and then announcing that they haven't read this book nor do they intend to. That is not what a review is. A review is what you express after you are done READING a book. If you read this book, you know that Michael has done exactly the opposite of what Edward Klein did in "The Kennedy Curse" which was to trash Carolyn Bessette. He especially goes out of his way to refute Klein's claim that Carolyn was addicted to coke. I can't understand the vitriol in some of these reviews; what has Michael Bergin done to earn such enmity?Bergin offers up Carolyn as beautiful, funny, bright and I believe that he really loved her. He tries to explain away her flaws by calling them abandonment or commitment issues; nowhere in this book does he lambast Carolyn for hiding their relationship, refusing to commit or anything else a lesser man might have done. I also found Michael to be self-effacing and possessed of a great sense of humor (his meeting with Jack Nicholson made me laugh out loud). I was also interested in reading about his life as a male model. I, too, watched his interview on A&E and I thought he came across as honest and candid and felt that his grief was real. Of course, his detractors found it false - nothing this guy does is going to be correct in their minds I see a lot of people who HAVE READ THIS BOOK are rightfully giving it good reviews. Don't listen to those with an unexplained ax to grind. If you are curious about the relationship between Michael Bergin and Carolyn Bessette, this is certainly the book to read and definitely better than "The Kennedy Curse." I give this a thumbs-up and wish Michael and his family happpiness and peace.
Rating: Summary: Great book! Review: Thank you Mr. Bergin for telling your side of the story. I found this book very sincere. Mrs. Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy comes across as a very disturbed lady, but so does every other character in the book. If the story were a figment of the author's imagination, I believe he would have made himself look a bit better, and not like a naive, almost "dumb" man, who was being played like a "Ken" doll by a manipulative, seemingly clinically ill woman. A man who,in the process, lost every bit of self respect and morals. A very common story in our times.
Rating: Summary: MICHEAL HAS THE RIGHT TO TELL HIS STORY... Review: FIRST OF ALL I JUST WANT TO SAY THAT THE "KENNEDY KLAN" OR WHATEVER ARE NOT PERFECT AND AMERICA NEEDS TO STOP BEING SOO DAMM OBSESSED WITH EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING "KENNEDY" I DON'T CARE WHO DATED JOHN I THINK IF JACKIE O WAS ALIVE SHE WOULDN'T HAVE APPROVED OF CAROLYN EITHER. SHE ACTED LIKE NO WOMAN WAS GOOD ENOUGH FOR HER SON. JOHN ON THE OTHER HAND WAS STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF HIS WANTS AND OTHER PEOPLE'S EXPECTATIONS. I FEEL BAD FOR HIM PERSONALLY, HE DIDN'T GET TO LIVE HIS LIFE. EVERYBODY WANTED HIM TO RUN FOR THE WHITEHOUSE...DID ANYONE EVER STOPPED TO ASK HIM WHAT HE WANTED INSTEAD OF TRYING TO CREATE HIS DESTINY..AND RELIVE HIS FATHER'S LIFE. AND WHY SHOULD JOHN RUN FOR OFFICE JUST SO HE CAN GET HIS BRAINS BLOWN OUT LIKE THEY DID TO HIS FATHER???!NEVERTHELESS HE STILL COULDN'T EXCAPE THE ANGEL OF DEATH. I LIKED THE BOOK COZ IT WAS HONEST, THE PEOPLE WHO ARE BAD-MOUTHING MICHEAL..ARE THOSE SAME PEOPLE WHO SO DESPRATELY WANTS TO BELIEVE THE "FAIRY TALE" OF "CAMELOT", THEY PUT THE KENNEDYS ON A PEDAL STOOL AND REFUSE TO FACE REALITY....NO ONE IS PERFECT! WHAT I FOUND MOST INTRESTING IN THE BOOK IS WHEN VALENTINO MADE A REFRENCE TO MARYLIN MONROE'S SUDDEN AND SUSPICIOUS DEATH.(WHEN HE WAS WARNING MICHEAL TO STAY AWAY FROM CAROLYN) I TRUELY BELIVE THAT FAMILY IS CURSED OR SIMLPY JUST PLAGUED WITH BADLUCK AND NEVER ENDING OBSTACLES.I MEAN GADDAMM HOW MANY DEATHS AND TRAGEDY CAN ONE FAMILY EXPERIENCE? THE DEATHS ALSO SEEMS TO BE SOO UNEXPECTED AND SUREAL GRANDPA KENNEDY AND THE KENNEDYS BEFORE HIM HAS BROUGHT A CURSE UPON HIS FAMILY. I DON'T PUT ANYTHING PAST ANYONE ESPECIALLY WHEN POLTICS,POWER AND MONEY ARE INVOLVED.I THINK THE PRESENT AND FUTURE GENERATIONS ARE SUFFERING THE CONSIQUENCIES OF THE ACTIONS OF THEIR FORE-FATHERS. CAROLYN IS JUST CRAZY IF U ASK ME...AND I DON'T SHE HER BEAUTY OR GRACE. SHE USED MICHEAL AND JSUT BY LOOKING AT HIM YOU CAN TELL HE'S VERY NAIVE AND HAS "SUCKER" WRITTEN ON HIS FOREHEAD. SHE SEEMS TO ME LIKE A SLU AND A CONTROL FREAK. HOW CAN SHE JUST RUN OFF TO SOME ISLAND WITH JOHN WHEN SHE WAS STILL SHAGGING MICHEAL?! AND THEN THAT PICTURE OF HER AND JOHN ON THE BOAT WITH HER ASSCHEECKS EXPOSED,NOT TO MENTION THE COKE,MALE "FRIENDS" AND ABORTIONS, POOR MICHEAL! POOR JOHN!!!
Rating: Summary: What was he thinking! Review: Did it not occur to Michael that she was using him? Even now, I am not sure he realizes it. Move on and enjoy your new love and family.
